Bank of America Fraud!!!
Today I got an email from "Bank of America". We don't have an account there (but the ex-inlaws do) and I was curious as to why they were sending ME an email.
The 'bank' wants people to download a program so they can enroll in some automatic service. It is NOT the bank, it is an attempt to gain actual customers log-in and account information, as well as identity.
Please pass the word around to anyone who has an account there. Your computers should have a certificate verification, if it gives you a warning, trust it. You can also check the email address, and if still in doubt, call the bank directly and inquire.
Have to love computer scammers

THANK-YOU!!!!!! for the info. Our mortgage is through bank of America and I wouldn't have thought too hard about getting an e-mail from them.

I got the email from BOA yesterday, and I have accounts there. I got a weird email like this before and called to report it. They told me that they do not send correspondence other than your statement over email. So, I deleted it right away. Someone should really step in and prosecute these hackers!

I got the same email the other day, my advice is to call BOA if you are uncertain but check the URL they are sending you too in the email.

Yup--I've gotten these in the past before, too. I have a cc w/BOA. The upside is that when they recently discovered fraud on our acct (our cc# was stolen and someone in TX was using it for cash advances to the tune of $4400.), they sent an email about possible fraud activity and then they followed it up with a phone call. I was happy to see that in this day and age of internet, that they just did not solely rely on email for correspondence--they called, too.

I called BOA and they had me forward the email. They sent one back with tips on how to detect the frauds.

Thanks for the info.
