My DD cut the tip of her finger off!
We were at our church this afternoon and my girls were "setting up Sunday School". They like to set out the kids' chairs while I have musicians practice. Anyway, today DD#2 (3 years old) sat down on an OLD wooden folding chair and her finger got caught in the the joint of the chair and it cut about 1/4" off the tip of her finger.
We called 911 and they took us to Children's hospital to have it looked at. Luckily, it was just a lot of blood, but the bone was okay. They didn't even need to do stitches because they have a new way of sealing off the wound. They put a foam piece on it that gels to the wound and helps it scab and start healing.
They said there will no problems with her finger growing and she will only have slight cosmetic issues with it. Like her finger nail might not be flat past the tip of her finger and she will probably have a smooth spot at the end of her finger once it heals.
The adrenalin is finally starting to wear down on me a bit. I was so freaked. I was standing only ten feet away from her and I thought she had just pinched her finger in the chair until I saw all the blood.
I just wish I could wrap her in a bubble sometimes....three months ago she ripped the side her ear open from jumping off her dressing and had to have a plastic surgeon stitch it up. At least this time she wasn't be disobedient. This was just a freak accident.

Oh, poor little one! (And poor mama, too!) That must have been so traumatic for y'all. I'm glad she's okay, though and that the damage will be minimal.

Thanks everyone. She seems to be in good spirits and she's great at bouncing back from this stuff.
I'll keep you posted on the healing process. They said the foam will adhere to her finger for almost a month. So we won't even see it until the foam falls off. We just have to make sure it all stays clean so that it won't get infected.

Oh, the poor thing.

My ds#2 had the same thing happen when he was 5. It did cause some cosmetic problems, but, after several trips to the plastic surgeon's office, and lots of prayer, it healed ok. Praying your dd's finger heals quickly.

So sorry for her.
