Ear stapling for weight loss??
I was just being told about having my ear stapled to lose weight, but I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it before or had it down. Apparently you get the inner section of your ear stapled (sort of like having your ears pierced), and it will help you lose weight. You just have to have the staple removed and a new one put in every three months or so. The cost is $70.00, each time (so every three months). There is one lady here in town who had it done and has lost a lot of weight, she says it works wonderful. I just wanted to know what you guys think or have heard.

I remember this was popular years ago.....maybe in the 80's?? I think it is a take off on accupunture/pressure?
Can't imagine how this would work. Now...if they stapled my mouth......
70.00 for one piercing/staple??? Every 3 months???Stinkbug

I have heard this once before, but have not knew anyone who did it. My MIL was going to try it, but she backed out. I am curious to know how it would work.

It's a fad that refuses to die, every 10 years ago it resurfaces. Just think, if actually worked back in the 70s and 80s, do you think there would be so many fat people today? (myself included) The only weight you will lose is in your wallet.

Yes, it is old. We had a neighbor that tried it. Supposedly, she had to rub her ear, too, when she had the desire to eat. It didn't work for her. For some people, anything would work if they set their mind to it working and the more money they pay, the more they convince themselves that it will work.

Never heard of this and like someone posted aboveYou just have to have the staple removed and a new one put in every three months or so. The cost is $70.00, each time (so every three months).
if it worked wouldn't we all be skinny.

I remember learning about this in college. The idea is that the ear has points on it similar to the foot in reflexology and when stimulated can alter the body in function.
Knowing what exact spot on the ear to pierce seems to be a hit or miss. Having a belief that the piercing or accupressure would work plays a big part in how well it does work. I find that wearing my ear cuff in certain spots reduces my tendency to graze on food.
Save your $70, go to a store that has a jewelry stand geared towards teens and get yourself an ear cuff. Wear it daily in the general area of the ear where appetite is suspected of being influenced and see how your day goes.
I had electrical stimulation done to my ear to help reduce jaw pain and for 3 days my jaw hurt less and I do tend to rub my ear when my jaw acts up. Other classmates had other ear points done to reduce other things and it was a mixed bag of results.
So invest $2 in a cuff and try it out, it just might work.
