I read about it a few days ago and it doesn't sound like you can just leave it plugged in all the time. They make it sound like you have to plug it in to make a call then unplug it when you are done. I am guessing you can't use the internet while its plugged in.

well i just read the website and as long as the computer is hooked to the internet, the box is working. and you CAN use the internet with it on too. dial up wont work with it, nor satalite internet. so far tho, it sounds pretty good.

I've seen the commercial too, DH and I were thinking about getting it, it would surely save us alot of money at the end of the year. I think it's $39.95 the first year and each year thereafter it's $19.95. Not bad...

For me though, I would want to get rid of the home phone all-together, dont know if DH would want that. I mean we have cell phones family could call if they needed to talk to us too.

I was hoping someone would ask about this.
    We're very interested also.
Would love to know what you experience is with it.
    TIA

My mom got it and the only draw back is that it is so new, that they don't have local numbers, so if other people don't have long distance on their phone they won't be able to call you. You can call them but they can't call you.

My mom lives down the street and if she gets rid of her land line then I can't get a hold of her unless I call her from my Trac-fone and use my minutes.

But on the up side is that it is portable, so my Dad that is a truck driver can take it with him plug it into his laptop at the hotels and call my mom for free!!!! Hope it helps,,

yeah, i dont think we'll have much of a problem with that around here tho. almost everyone has that nationwide plan here (where you can call long distance for free) since our town is so small that if you live 5 mins away, youre considered long distance.

plus side tho, (if i read it right) no matter where the other person lives, if they have one too, its free. if you live in the us or canada, its free regardless. if you send it someone outside of the us or canada, they can call you for free too. (correct me if im wrong)

I ordered the magicjack and installed it. I love it!! I particularily love the cost. Cheap. . cheap. . .cheap! The initial cost includes the magicjack and one year's service. I think the next year's service fee is either $20 or $25 for the year. There is also 911 service included. I got it for a "spare" phone in case we have long calls to make so we can save our cell phone minutes.

My friend also got that. We are in New England and she got an Arizona number. She cancelled that and got Vonage. Now we all the time.
