    Default Any Kia owners here?

My dh and I are thinking of buying a KIA Spectra. Does anyone here at the Village own a KIA? If so, what's your opinion of them?

We have a 2002 Kia Spectra, we bought it when it was brand new. We have almost 60,000 miles on it now. The only money we have had to put into it is for normal maintenance, it hasn't given us any trouble at all.

My mom has a 2005 Kia Rio, bought when it was brand new. She loves it. Great gas mileage, no problems with it at all.

If we were in the market for another car I'd definitely give Kia a look.

I've had two Kias---a spectra and an optima. I love both cars. I have travelled a lot in them, they are both safe cars, fuel efficient, and nice. I would definitely buy another! HOWEVER! Kia's depreciate in value REALLY quickly so if you buy a brand new one, the depreciation you suffer will cause you to be upside down on the loan almost instantly. You can find nice used ones with few miles on them!

I never had a Kia, but I had a Hyundai Accent for two years and put 60 thousand miles on it. It's similar to a Kia (same class.) I think Kia's and Hyundai's are definitely worth looking into. They carry 10 year/100K mile warranties. No one else can beat that. They're the cheapest cars around, with excellent safety ratings. I say definitely consider a KIA. You should always try to buy a used/low miles car, but that's the case with any vehicle. Let us know how you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 BTW, the only reason I got rid of the Hyundai was that we had too many vehicles (DH recieived a work truck for free.) I sold that Hyundai at a huge profit from wence I received it!!!!

Dd drives a 2000 Kia Sephia, we bought it brand new and then gave it to her when we bought a new car 4 years ago. She drives it everywhere!! The last time we took it in for repairs our mechanic told us that it was a tin can on wheels and that she needed to get rid of it! She loves driving it, it gets her to where she needs to go and she is hoping to get another year or so out of it before she needs to get something new or new to her!

I own a 2005 Kia Sportage and a 2006 Kia Optima. Love them both. I have also had a 1999 Kia Sephia, traded for a 2002 Spectra which I loved until it got totalled in an accident. But that car was solid. I was T Boned between 2 SUVs and no broken bones or anything!

    I own a 2007 Kia Sorrento.
We have had nothing but trouble after buying it new last year so I am grateful for the warranty. At the moment I have been driving for the last two weeks without the navigation system which also includes the radio/cd player - it has had to be sent back to the factory. Also when the car goes back to the garage to get it all installed they have to look into the airco in the car since the thermostat is also being weird.
I am on a first name basis with the folks at the garage since I am there so often. I will mention that the folks who work there are VERY friendly and courteous.
If I had to choose again then it wouldn't be this car.

i own a kia 2001 sportage. i would buy another.

the first year i owned it I hated this car. check engine light kept coming on. the master cylinder went out and was replaced under warranty. it seemed that the first year it was frequently at the dealership. part of the trouble was that it sat unmoved and unstarted for a year while i lived in england.

everytime i go to the dealership, as i literally drive out, the check engine light comes right back on again. so i drive merrily around houston with the check engine light on for the past 7 years. It's always a bit of crud in the carburator. I have learned to ignore it.

but it starts reliably every morning and gets me to where i need to go.

so yes i would buy another. sturdy little workhorse. the check engine light has been on for the past 6 months.

    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
