DH has some really good co-workers
DH works for a manufacturer of swimming pool parts in their technical services department. He spends a lot of his time helping the field guys for the company solve problems and such. The guys in the field really like him, and boy do they show it. Most of the time they will send little thank yous from their stash of give-away items (company logo shirts & golf balls), but in the last two weeks we have hit the jackpot. One guy gave him three bottles of homemade red wine that was really good (he has won some awards for it) and sent us a box of oranges because DH had a cold. This week, another field guy heard I was sick and today a 1/2 bushel of oranges was delivered to our house. And, here I was thinking that I needed to pick up some oranges at the grocery store this week.
Since DH's boss is such a ...., it is really good for him to know how well thought of he is by the other guys.Amy

My father has a similar job but he takes calls from all over the world on installing security systems. We are taking systems that take months to install and get running. Well, one contractor was having a bunch of minor issues and other techs had talked to the field service guys over a dozen times and the problems were just getting worse. Well, my Dad finially ended up getting a call from one of his techs. he spent 6 hours on the phone with the techs until they found the root of all the problems. The next morning he gets a call from the owner of the contracting company wanting to thank him. They talked some about personnel stuff, like where my dad lived in such. Well, about a week later my dad gets a package in the mail. It is a real expensive wrist watch (over $500) and a letter of thank you and an open job offer in case my Dad ever needed it. it was a real boost for my Dad because he had just been turned down for the supervisors position.
He plans on retiring within a year or two. He takes real joy in screwing with guy that got the job of supervisor. The guy is a major micro-manager which is comical since he know very little about the systems the techs field calls for.

He definitely works with a really good group of people. They have blessed us time and time again. For no other reason do I think he would have stuck with this job, driving 70+ miles a day. He would like to work in the field like he did in his previous job, but this company really likes him in the office because he can be "more widely affective."
He also came home today with a $100 gift certificate to a spa/massage that he is giving to me. His company has had this month-long health fair and his name was drawn as a winner.Amy
