My dream and goal is to become a nurse
I really, really want to become a nurse. This is something that I have aspired for as long as I can remember. I know it is going to be a hard, rough road for me as I am the primary breadwinner in my family and trying to work and go to school is going to be rough but I am determined. My biggest concern is I am 32 now...I will be 35 or so before I finish. Is this too late to start?

no i was in my early 40's when i went back to school(again ) to become an xray tech..start now or next semester.,. dont wait...
most programs have pre reques. u need to take and it will be easier if u take them apart from the nursing classes..start with a class or two a semester.. it will be easier to pay for, study and work..
look onto financial aid(grants and loans) now as it may take a while to do the research

Never too late!!! Figure it this way, in four years, you'e gonna be 36 either way, right?
You will find it much easier (in terms of getting into school and finishing sooner) if you look into LPN programs. Even if your ultimate goal is to be an RN, as an LPN you will have a job in nursing, have a much easier time finding a school with openings NOW, and have a leg up on your RN program when you get ready to tackle it.
It's the path I took into a career in nursing, and I've never regretted it.

No way! It is never too late! Although it will be tough, you can not only do it but the schooling will pass quickly because it is something you want to do. Good luck!

You rock! I am about the same age and I always wanted to follow my mom and become a nurse. I always let my lack of self confidence stop me.

Nope, not too late. Never too late. As Jack LaLanne says, "The rest of your life is the best of your life."

My sister got her nursing degree in her fifties. She wanted to wait till she was an empty-nester.

Stephanie, it is never to late to follow to go back to school! Going back to school to become a Registered Nurse was the hardest, best thing I have ever done. I am now working on my Masters Degree.
A favorite quote that I have always kept in the back of my mind that I used in my highschool yearbook: You are never given a dream without the power to make it come true.
Best wishes to you!!

I have 2 co-workers that went to nursing school in their 50's, so it's not too late at all!

It's definitely not too late. If you were looking to get started as a professional wrestler, I would say it's probably too late. Nursing, you can do that until the day you die of old age, so I don't see how 32 is too late.

Too late to start??? Never!! I graduated August 13, 2010 --- this summer!! I was 40 when I graduated with my undergraduate degree. I did not let my age play a factor in my decision. I just knew this is what I wanted to do and I did it. My family and co-workers convinced me that I had to partake in commencement exercises. Believe me when I say I was not the oldest nor the youngest graduate that day. There was one family that was sitting in the stands with a sign that read, "Congratulations Grandma!" I turned around to look at the row behind me and there sat (what I would consider) an elderly lady with her cap and gown. She didn't let her gae stand in her way either.
You can do it!! I believe if this is something you want to do then you should go for it!!!!~*Michelle*~

Its never to late
I am 28 now and decided in April 2009 that i wanted to do nursing. Got into uni and started in July 2009 as a part time student.
I found a university that offered it externally so i didnt have to quit work, although i did quit my job in finance and now work in admin in a hospital.
I am half way through now and will finish in November 2012.
Follow your dreams
its hard, but its worth it.

Okay, so you'll be 35 when you finish. How old will you be in 3 years if you do nothing to fulfill your life aspirations?
