2006 Goal Check-in...
How did everyone do with their 2006 goals? I finally pulled mine up for another look. My main goals were to pay out the mortgage by the end of July, improve my health, spend quality time with family, and improve my spiritual and intellectual development. I managed to:
1) pay out the mortgage by the end of July 2006.
2) improve my health by seeing an acupuncturist, getting serious about exercise and joining a gym. Lots of help from people outside the family unit for this. I did not, however, meet my goal of losing 20 lbs. In fact, my weight, went up rather than down! And now it's right back where I started the year...sigh... On top of that, my cholesterol is up again. I'm reacting badly to the heart healthy foods, and the price of salmon is through the roof now.
3) spend quality time with kids. DH didn't seem to want to do anything more with me, so we didn't do anything. Boohoo!
4) read several inspirational books and Bible studies. Started attending a Bible study as well, going to church regularly, being more involved in church activities and tithing. Still, in terms of my actual relationship with God - I think I've grown more distant. Not good.2012 Challenges

I'm sure I wrote goals on multiple sheets of paper SOMEWHERE for 2006. I can't remember the specifics but I can remember the meat of them.
Loose the weight I had put back on the past year:
Nope doubled it
Finish the master bedroom/bathroom addition:
Nope...but we're close...held up on carpet to put up a privacey fence to keep our dog in the yard and need to set the new water heater before we can finish up the bath.
Pay off a lot of non-morgage debt:
Success!!!! We didn't just pay off whatever the number was we wanted paid off we paid all non-morgage debt off!!!! (We're not talking tens of thousands of dollar here but a good guesstimate would be about $7500.00/$8000.00 ish)
Complete a baby EF:
Success!!!!! Have a half funded full EF.
Get the boys into their new finished bedrooms:
I'm going to consider this one a partial success. ( I'm not sure how I had the goal worded but the idea was to be done with thier newly redone rooms)
What has been accomplished is that they're in their own rooms newly painted and carpeted with the closets reshelved to be more kid friendly. New closet doors have been put on, a closet added in one room, (let me tell you how much I hate putting spackling tape in corners) a desk stripped down and refinished, switchplate covers made, stuffed animal nets hung, material bought and new fans put up. ... What isn't done is the curtains and bedlinens I was making (started), a tall bookshelf for DS#1's room (stained not polyed yet), and a frame repainted and frogs put in ir for DS#2's room (started).
All in all I'm pretty close on it.
I'm sure when I started there were lots more but I know these were the biggies. It'll be nice this year to put my goals directly on a thread here and then be able to pull them up later in the year....( I'm not like that commercial though...if I was home I could go find the paper copy in a heartbeat) having them on the thread though will be realy nice.
We had a really good year financially.....which doesn't mean we made a lot of money, although I did have over 200 OT hours this year, we just didn't have as many financial emergencies as usual and worked really hard at staying focused.

TheRootedNomad:
Wow! That's a ton of debt to pay off in one year. Way to go! PLUS doing house renos?! I'm really impressed.
DH and I sat down yesterday to plan what needs to be done before we sell the house. We're looking at a week to de-clutter each room in this house. Then he'll have a month to 'fix it up to sell'. I'm laughing at that. A month is about how long it takes him to make one decision. We'll see what happens.2012 Challenges

This hasn't exactly been the best year of my life. Most of you know, in July I was diagnosed with Stage III Breast Cancer. Had surgery July 5th, started chemo in August. That lasted until the end of November. I'm now doing radiation, so I am exhausted.
Did not get 2 of my goals realized, BUT, I have learned a great deal this year:
Who my real friends are (and there are quite a few of them on here!).
To let the little things go, such as traffic holdups, messes, dd whining, etc...
Realized that there is more to life than just having money, cars, etc... One never knows how long you will be on this earth, make the most of it while you can!
Sorry for the long post, just trying to keep last year in prespective! Will be listing goals for the new year!

Julie: I think it's amazing you accomplished anything, considering what you've been going through. Take the time to heal. Don't push the envelope. There's always next year.
Jennifer: As I said to Julie...there's always next year! You should see my goals list. It's humongous. I figure if I get half of my goals accomplished, I'm doing good.2012 Challenges

Had to hunt to dredge this up.
1) Max our dh's 401K.-Well, we found out we can only save 7% instead of 10% because of quirky tax laws. I guess it's better than nothing.
2) Save max in health flex account.-DONE, and used it unfortunately.
3) Continue to put extra $$ on mortgage.Done- We paid off an exta $6900 this year.
4) Continue to save all of my babysitting income for 'extras' like kids' camp, birthdays, etc.-DONE-used it for shoes mostly it seems.
5) Do a better job of tracking all $$$. It's hard to keep up with dh.-Not done. He simply won't keep track. ~sigh~
Julie-as the others said, I wouldn't worry about meeting those goals. Think of all the valuable things you have learned.
