Already half way through the year, and I'm just getting started. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, tough...

I'm going to put, for now, $40 a month ($10 for every week) into savings for an emergency fund, towards a hybrid car, retirement (basically an don't touch anytime soon fund).

My goals for 2008 (coming into this a little late!)

-start/maintain an EF, equivalent to 2-3 months wages, so that I can be independent of the child support sent by the ex. Eventually that money will no longer be coming in (possibly sooner than I think), so I need to stop depending on it as household income. (This will take time to build up the EF, but I want to start working on it so I have it by the end of the year)

-maintain a canned/dry goods stockpile, as well as inedible item stockpile (laundry/bath/cleaning supplies)

-maintain a listing of 80 - 100 items for sale on Ebay at all times to help keep extra money coming in.

-to be healthier and to start eliminating up to 90% of the artificial colors/flavors in our diets as a family, and to exercise on a regular basis every day - whether it's walking, biking, or whatever.

-start/maintain a 'trip fund' for annual visitations for the boys to their dad, who lives in another state, so these trips are not such a hardship when the time comes.

Well I did not post my goals at the beginning of the year but it helped just putting it out there. After getting the second job, I was able to pay down and fix about 50k in debt and repairs. I didn't have time to do much else. They are working on house number 3 still but do to the weather will not get it ready till January, Feb. I am aiming to get house number 3 fixed and house number 4 done for next year
My blood glucose meter after having a defective first one. The second one also got recalled so that goal was unable to be full filled. I yo yo dieted and lost and gained but ended the year only a few pounds down. But this will be a higher priority for next year.
I did finish my CEUS and will submit with payment for reinstating my second credential.
Spiritually. I studied more but I think I want a more systematic way. I did not do the 3 chapters a day. I am now rethinking my goals for 2009. I will continue organizing till the last day.LOL
I did start selling on EBAY but did not really do it as my second job paid so much more. I did get rid of a lot of clutter- reorganized my stockpile and used up most of the old stuff before restocking.

The goal is to revamp the budget to be able to pay for $15,000 of home renovations and a $30,000 car in five years. That's $45,000...almost 3/4 of DH's annual gross income. It doesn't take much to realize I will be earning some money here...and we will be going on a stringent budget. DH is behind me on this.
This has been going really well, as anyone following my Money Makeover thread on the Goals board can tell. I've learned a lot, saved a lot, and really managed to accomplish quite a bit financially this year. I'm very happy with the results.

Worked pretty well. Come June we went on a week long trip, and again in October. We visited cafes off and on all summer. Just basically taking it easy. Come fall we were a bit tired of cafes though.

I'm thinking I'll order the DVDs from Chapters on-line, with no shipping.
I struggled in this area. We canceled the gym. My back, feet and knees have been so bad this year I haven't been able to do much of anything. I ended up having to buy another exercise mat. The one DH bought me wasn't good enough. I had my exercise specialist pick out another one. I find Pilates is bad for my back now. I am hoping that new orthodics for my shoes will have me up and walking again. I've even had problems with that this year.

Not all bad. Still working on some things, but overall I'm getting there.

    *Put $1,000.00 in EF.
*Keep groceries spending at $400 or less per month. Or $500 a month for five week months.
I didn't do too well on my goals from last year.
    *I lost about 5 pounds.
*We applied about $100/mth to the credit card, but we added it to it too.
*I tracked expenses most of the year, but I went back to work in September and stopped doing it then.
*I didn't plant a garden at all. We didn't have any tools to dig up the ground, so that was out.
*We put $1,000 in the EF a few times. But we had to use it a few times too. In 2009, I have a FA catergory, so that should help us not to have to dip into the fund once it is completed.
*We did okay on the groceries. But I didn't make a budget line for eating out and we way over did that when I went back to work.

I have new goals for next year. I am pretty sure, with the way things are the present time, I can complete all of them. 2009 will be our year to be debt-free.

    * Beef up the EF and actually fund the Vacation Fund

    * To be happy overall on everything

My list may not be very different from last years but its the things in between that make the year unique. Simple goals, lets see if I can do this! Just need patience.

Ok so its Jan 26/09 and I'm just looking back...I dont think I did too poorly on my goals from 2008. I did stay relatively low in debt/debt free at times I was not as 'sick' as often as I used to be but going into 2009 I got hit The EF/Vacation Fund...well they grew a wee bit but I'm happy witih that...2008 wasn't such a bad year after all...did a lot of growing up I tell yas! And it's all good!
