Default CNN Story on homesteading on 1/10th acre

This story was very inspiring. It's about a family of 4 adults living off the land....all 1/10th acre of it. They even supply a local restaurants and sell the extra that they don't eat. They have goats, chickens, ducks, and they garden every square inch of thier city lot. By the way, they live off of 25K/yr. Cook solar, etc. Video is about 2 minutes long. They are pretty extreme compared to most, but it shows what is possible even in the city.

    That's a great story!

I told DH I wanted to get chickens and he said there are laws here against having livestock in the city!

    That is too neat!!

I wish we could have chickens. Our city regulates that you have to have 10,000 square feet of property AND be a certain distance away from other properties before you can have any kind of livestock

I love the way they grow the potatoes (in containers). I may have to try that ....

Thanks for the story. I got a chuckle over the bike/blender. Cool way to burn off calories prior to having a milk shake.

Oh - how I would love to do it! My neighbors would have a cow though! But I could get away with it - we do not have a housing association! I do not have a green thumb though - I am a very poor gardener and by the time I got a beautiful garden going - we would have to move. I have seen this video before and it's really neat - a true inspiration!

I can't wait to watch the video. DH and DS are playing a video game right now and I have to have the volume off.
