    Exclamation recycling can also be profitable

    We tore down a shed a bit ago,and I've also been saving various scrap metal for awhile. For example: there was 1 small steel shed, 1 broken car jack, 1 old pipe from the chimney, 2 broken metal sprinklers, 1 broken tail gate from an old truck and 1 broken microwave. We also saved aluminum cans. My husband thought I was crazy for keeping all of this, but he took it all in to be recycled this weekend. {he tried to put this stuff at the curb many times!}

    We received $24 for the cans and $26 for the scrap metal. That's one fill up for his truck! Who's crazy now? Ha HA

    We still have two more sheds to take down and lots of junk inside of them. Maybe we'll get another fill up out of it! It's better than sending it to the landfill.

    I take a walk every evening, I always bring a plastic bag with me, I pick up all cans and bottles, and I must say they really add up, sometimes I come home with 3, sometimes 12 or more. I cash my cans and bottles in and either put it toward my groceries or buying postage stamps.

    We recently removed some old aluminum awnings from our house. DH wanted to put them out on the treelawn and eventually came to his senses and took it to the scrap yard. We made $80!

    After that, I understand why people drive around pilfering metal cans out of people's recycling bins!

    My son just took a trailer full of scrap metal to the recyclers last week. He made over $100.00. We have tons more scrap metal out back to clean up all summer. I didn't think to keep my cans for when he goes again next time. Thanks for the idea.
