Wierd or Ingenious?
We went to our dump (transfer station) today. I had never been to the cardboard area until today. They had a newspaper area and I saw that they had a stand with books. I wanted to go look at those and then we saw the cardboard area. Well, at the cardboard area they had all kinds of cardboard INCLUDING Coke 12 pk and 24 pk boxes broken down. I was like OH YEAH - We do MyCokeRewards and I thought this was a easy way to get them. The dump guy was there and I asked if I could take some. He said sure - then helped pull some out for me. We ended up with 9 codes - 2 are from 12pks (10 pts each) and 7 were from 24pks (20 pts each). YAY
Then we went over to look at the books. We found a book that I might be able to sell on Ebay and 2 biblical books - The Atlas of the bible and a Gods Word bible.
I told DH we need to go to the dump every few days and see what we can find.

We can get a coupon for a free 20 oz coke for every 24 points. We can also save up like 3000 and get a 19" flat screen tv or tons of other things.

It's not weird at all. I've heard some people ask if they can go through the newspaper area and check for coupon inserts.
Way to go on the coke reward codes you found!

I think that's great for you! I also like that the dump sets some things aside, knowing people might want them, I think it would be nice if every dump (transfer station) did that. Here at the apt. complex I live in the residents set out by the dumpster: furniture, tv's, home decor items, etc... so that people who need/want these items can have them before they go in the dump. I would say most items get snatched up within a day. I think a lot of people in an apt. complex are frugal. I always put somthing I am ready to get rid of by the dumpster first and if it's still there in 2 days, then I take it to a donation center. I haven't ever had to take anything I set out to a donation center. People know a good deal when they see it. Good Luck with saving your coke points
. If you live in an apt complex you should check the recycle bins, they might have some of your coke reward points too.

No, we live in a house. I think we will go there every few days and see if we can find more. We have only been cashing in the points for free 20 oz sodas. We got 10 coupons in the mail today. When we are looking for cans/bottles (5 cent at the redemption place) we always take the code off. If we are at the gas station and see a code or a box in the trash, we pull them off. DH and I talked about it a little bit ago, we are going to look on mycokerewards and pick something as a "goal". We can save up the points for something good. Maybe tickets to a waterpark - all day pass for 1 is 600. Next summer we will have all of my kids here and if we can get 5 passes that would be WONDERFUL. We might decide on something else though - I also have to remember that things may go away before we get enough points too.
Thanks guys. I did feel a little weird about it, but I thought hey, they aren't the ones who benefit - WE WILL!

That's pretty great that you were able to get those Coke Rewards. Since nobody was going to use them, it might at well be you.

Definitely weird. As in, not normal.
As all ingenious ideas are!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I say gooooooooooooood job!!! Keep at it. I was reading a book on how people made it thru "The Great Depression" and it mentions that families use to take weekly trips to the dump to get items which could be reused.

I'm a little upset at myself that I didn't see the books or the cardboard area sooner.
At least we found them now. We will probably go again Wednesday - the next day they are open. I've already been asking family to save their codes for me - nobody has given me more than a couple yet though.
