Default Does anyone here have solar panels?

DH and I are planning to sign a contract for solar panels next week. According to the company installing them, we'll be able to generate about 42% of our electricity demand from the panels.

I don't know anyone who has gotten them and I'd like to know if they usually generate as much power as the company says they will.

Oh, I desperately want them. One of my goals is to pay off all our current debt within the next five years because that will be around the time we will need a new roof. At that time, I want to put on a new "green" roof with solar panals.

Will you please post to let me know how it goes. Also, if you don't mind, I would love to know how much it cost you, how many panels, etc. You can message me if you don't want to post it here.

I would love more information too. We want to do this in the future. We won't be in this house long enough to benefit, but are thinking about our next home.

Sure! We're getting 16 panels (2.75 kW total). The total cost is around $22K, but we qualify for about $10K in state incentives and $2K in federal incentives. Our actual out of pocket will be in the neighborhood of $10K. It should raise our resale value by about that much and the town can't figure solar panels into our assessment.

...we have taken our hydro bill from $650.00 a month(equal billing) to about $100.00(off equal billing)
What a nice savings! Thank you for posting.
