    Default Repurposing gallon water/milk jugs

I've found 3 good uses for them in the greenhouse:

    A. Cut to make plant labels. Use them over and over.

    B. Use them to make a seedling waterer (works best with the type with a push on cap) :

    1. Cut the top of the bottle off an inch or two below the handle

    2. Use an awl to push holes through the cap. (If your jug has a hard cap, you could try drilling holes)

    3. Put some H20 in an old ice cream bucket and dip and sprinkle.

Works like a charm. If the holes get clogged with dirt simply remove the cap, swish it clean and water away...

    C. Drying label/cinch:

    1. Cut a square from a plastic milk jug or water jug

    2. Fold vertically and take a small snip in the center of the folded edge - Fold horizontally and snip in the center of the folded edge - you should end with a square with an "x" in the center.

    3. Use a permanent marker to write the name of the plant to be dried on the plastic square.

    4. Push the stems of the plant through the "x". Stuff it to overfull as the stems will shrink as they dry.

    5. I cut one more slit in the outside of the square and pulled a string through to hang it from, but you could use a hole punch or awl.

The beauty is, they can be used again and again....

Next I thought I might cut a spiral out of the plastic to wrap around three small stakes in a pot to use as a plant support... I'll let you know if it works out.

They also make good scoops for things like grain or dog food. Just cut down the side without the handle.

Cut the bottom off and cover your plants when there is a danger of frost or use as a warmer in the early spring. Take the top off during the day to let excess heat out and put it back on at night to protect form the cold.

cut off the botton, voila! funnel!

we use these for our zero budget chemistry class.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I put my birdseed in the milkjugs and save it in the garage. I also use them for scoops for birdseed and such. You can cut off the tops and put sand in and use them for candles along your driveway or walkway.

I know someone who fills them 2/3 with water and lines them up the sidwalk at Christmas time. They run the large Christmas lights and put one bulb in each jug. At night the whole jug lights up with the color of the bulb. It looks really cool at night, but kind of dorky during the day.
