Talking The mean green swiffer machine + more LOL

    War on non-green products!
Get green with your wet jet covers: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf27261057.tip.html
Instead of trying to take off the jug of cleanser use an exacto knife or similar make a big enough x to hold a rubber drain plug. Re-fill with natural cleaners.
For Swiffer: I bought micro fiber cloths at Dollar Tree that fit it, any leftover micro fiber cloth will work, I have heard of using flannel.
    For Mr Clean shower mop:

Use handiwipes in their original size. Buy pot scrubbers (I got mine 10 for $1)
Stitch well within the V. Fold corners of the V and hand stitch. Tuck other ends into slots. BTW any of these store nicely in a shoe box
I found micro fiber swiffer duster type wands at the Dollar Tree, they have elastic so can be easily washed.

It's actually really easy to refill the wetjet cleaner without cutting a hole in it. Just use a pair of vise grips to take the top off the bottle the first time. This will break the little teeth that are holding it closed. Afterwards it is just like any screwtop bottle that you can open and close.

I tried that a long time ago, it worked well for a while and now it leaks just sitting there. I can't use it with any bottles, new or used anymore.

I've heard that from people who have only ever used new refills as well, it's not a very well designed product to begin with. My squirter thing stopped working altogether (I just used a spray bottle instead, spray then wipe - just as good), then last week the whole thing snapped in half.

Mine stinks too. Takes less time to handwash it and doesn't leave streaks. Although I detest handwashing the floors. ugh.

I bought a swiffer wet jet a few years ago when they first came out. I really didn't like it. I'm one of those crazy people who actually like mopping on my hands and knees. It gets much cleaner. For every day messes a squirt bottle of vinegar and water and a rag work just as good.
Same thing with the swiffer sweepers, my broom does a good job.

I also bought one years ago. My dh uses it but I also like washing the floor with my hands. It gets cleaner that way.

Okay, the last time I got down on my hands and knees to scrub a floor was sometime in the early 90s...However, I don't like the wetjet system, either.

I bought a Clorox ReadyMop when we first moved into the new apartment (July). I use it with microfiber cloths and make my own cleaning solution. I bought a bottle of green cleaning spray that smells like flowers, so I mix that with water and some vinegar, and it seems to work rather well.

I believe the Clorox mops are easier to refill as I've had no trouble with mine (no cutting holes or leaking issues)
