Homemade Juice.
Homemade Juice
http://www.durgan.org/ShortURL/?IECHR 30 November 2008 Homemade Juice
Produce: carrots, lettuce, cranberries, limes, oranges, melon, pineapple, tomato. This is what was available. The produce is chopped into pieces and blended with sufficient water for drinking. The mixture is blended twice to make homogeneous, then stored in the refrigerator. Four liters last about seven days or less, and stays fresh for this time. A glassful is often taken with meals, and to quench thirst as required. Preparation about 30 minutes.
This mixture replaces the so called juice sold in supermarkets. It is a fine way to eat more fruit and vegetables, since almost any produce may be utilized.Durgan

Wow, those are some monster sized cranberries! I really should get on the ball with juicing. We go through an enormous amount of bottled juice over here.

I make the juice certainly once per week, and drink every drop. When I want a snack, I usually drink a glass of the juice. It tends to control one's appetite, so over-eating at mealtime is minimized, and I suppose one intakes more fruit and vegetables, than if eaten as whole fruit. All it takes is a change in mindset. I prefer this drink to almost anything else.
It is not really canned, only enough for a few days is prepared at one time. It is so easy to produce, that it could be made daily, but I have found it will keep in sealed jars in the refrigerator for a week or more, and I got in the habit of using all the fruit and vegetables once I start cutting into sufficient size for blending.
For children one can sneak in any vegetable as long as it is not overwhelming. The dogma today is eat more fruit and vegetables, and this is a simple method of doing so. By controlling amount of the water added, it can be made to any suitable consistency.Durgan
