Calgary to start curbside recycling!
I am so excited!
For $8/mo, we'll be able to recycle our goodies each week from the comfort of our own home. We'll be receiving a blue bin that requires nothing to be sorted beforehand (which means that every recyclable goes into the same blue bin container). It'll be picked up the same day as our trash goes.
Our section of the northeast will get their blue bins in the first two weeks of June.
The blue depot areas will still be around the city for people who have extra recyclables and for those who live in housing units with more than four residences. It's the single-family dwellings (like detached and semi-detached houses) that'll benefit from this program.
I am so excited!

We have it too! It's nice. The bin or blue bags work here.
There's talk of another program, they'll be providing the special garbage cans, and extensive knowledge on what can be recycled. The next county has it and it's amazing. THey have compostables, recycle and garbage.Mommy4ever to 4 wonderful kiddos. Homeschooling mom to 2 youngest.

Yeah, my MIL has it in Sherwood Park. It's three separate bins all connected together for the kitchen, a smaller green container for the food waste and then she has larger bins that sit out next to her garage that she empties the smaller bins into. It's separated pretty particularly and I think that's awesome!

That is cool. I wish our area let us put everything into one bin. We have 3 bins. I had to stop curbside recycling for a few months because we had a fox problem. A family of foxes were getting into everything, pooping on things, etc. It was gross. When I stopped leaving my curbside recyclables out, they left my house alone. If not, I would wake up to fox poo all over my recycle bins.

You'll love it. I have forgotten how gross it could get hauling it and waiting for the next car to move for your turn. We have that and now we recycle almost more than trash because they take cardboard which includes cereal boxes and the like. My son, who has to take out the trash, not as thrilled.lol
