Question How many bags of garbage a week?

Just curious, how many bags of garbage (what size) do you put out a week?

DH and I are wondering if we're abnormal or typical. We're an empty nest couple and we put out one Superstore grocery bag of garbage a week. I thought it was more than that, but DH claims not. As he takes out the garbage, I go by what he has to say.

Hubby and I with neighbors and family over often, we put out MAYBE two tall kitchen bags a week.

We crush and save aluminum and take it to a recycler and get paid.

Newspaper, junk mail, envelopes, toilet paper rolls, all cardboard packaging, cardboard scraps (I often make my own shipping boxes) to to the recyling bin at a nearby school on my way to run errands once a week.

Plastic bags and any plastic packaging marked 2 or 4 go to the recyling bin by the front door of the grocery store.

Recyclable plastic bottles and tin cans go to the recycling bin the HEB parking lot

LOTS of stuff given away on freecycle - one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Garage sale at least once a year to make a little extra money. It gets rid of stuff and puts a little money in my pocket.

I have been composting for over 20 years - coffee grounds, egg shells, fruit and vegetable peels/skins, grass clippings, leaves.

We are a family of four.

I don't like for the garbage can to have anything in over night. Each night before we go to bed the kids take out the trash whether it is full or not. Technically, we take out seven of the 13 gallon bags a week. However, the bags are rarely full. Most of the time the bag is only filled half-way or less. I imagine if we actually filled the bags, we would put out between two and four 13 gallon bags a week.

We also put out between two and four bags of recyclables for weekly pick-up (newspaper, white paper, #1 & #2 plastics, steel cans and aluminum cans).

We are a family of 6 and we have at least 1-2 tall white kitchen bags a day that goes out. I sometimes feel like thats all I do is empty the trash! Where does it all come from? I swear it breeds while I'm not looking..lol!

It's just me and I have just one of the tall kitchen garbage bags per week. I usually have a few of the plastic grocery bags as well though, from cleaning the kitty litter or decluttering. I also recycle papers, cardboard, glass and aluminum each week.

Just two of us here, plus cats and we fill one very large bag a week. We are limited to two bags per week or we have to buy a tag for extra bags, so I get the biggest ones I can find because some weeks, like this one, DH forgets to put it out...

I compost all vegetable scraps, and we have a recycle bin for certain plastics and paper.

Most of our neighbors are either young with 1-2 small kids or are empty-nesters and there seems to be 1-2 bags per household. (But as I said, the city limits what we can put out)

Two tall kitchen bags or one large contractor's bag a week, unless we're purging a lot!

We are a family of six, plus the cats. We put out one 13 gallon tote every week. It usually has two tall kitchen bags and a couple of grocery bags. We recycle all cans, cardboard, paper, plastic & glass bi-weekly.

We keep a garbage can outside with a big orange bag in it. This fits the can easily. We are a family of 6, and a home daycare that has 4 in diapers. I put out 2 of those bags a week, although one isn't full. If I could get a better sorter, that was convenient to use for the kids, I don't know if we'd have 1 of those, but we'd have more recycling bags to go out. Currently 1t's 1 to 3 blue bags depending on if I did the big shop for the month, and the bulk packaging needs to go.

We are a family of 4 plus a cat and a dog......I also don't like to keep trash inside overnight so we empty the cans each evening. We compost what we can and recycle as well so we probably put out 2 tall kitchen trash cans each week, some weeks might be more.

We'r a family of three, but we entertain quite a bit and usually about 1 and a 1/2 of those 13 gallon kitchen bags per week.

Amen to the purging putting your # of bags WAY up though.

We are a family of two and we put out two kitchen size bags per week usually. We burn most cardboard and paper items.
