    Default 2L soda AND 12-pack

To reduce the waste, you can purchase 2L soda instead of 12-pack.

Here at my house the 12 pack creates less waste. I cannot recycle the 2 liter but can recycle the cans!

    Either one works for us.

We donate the cans to the humane society. They recycle them for cash to cover operating expenses.

The tabs off of the cans are donated to the Ronald McDonald House. They recycle them for cash to cover the costs associated with providing a place to stay for families with children who are in the hospital.

The plastic bottles are put in our recycling container for our city to recycle.

Plastic bottles can't be recycled into food containers again - they have to be downcycled.

Aluminum can be recycled over and over again, and melting already processed aluminum via magnetic induction, if powered by a hydro plant, produces no waste.

Does that mean aluminum is better? No - just that "green" suggestions should be double checked.

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

We buy cans of soda (and beer) and recycle the cans. The 2L bottles generally go flat before we finish them so that is wasteful.

Of course, we don't buy many cannned sodas any more. We drink filtered water (NOT bottled) and/or iced tea. Much more frugal, better for you, and no bottles or cans to recycle.

We recycle both here because they have a deposit you pay at the cash register when you buy them . Glass does also unless it is uncarbonated. I have just told the kids though that I will not be buying cans anymore. They open them, lose track of them and open something else or it gets warm and they dont want to get ice in a glass so no more cans. IF the rare occasion there are cans they are for the grown ups only from now on. So for us 2 liters are less waste.

We buy cans only here. I recycle them and neither of us can stand the taste of the products in plastic bottles.
