    Default Snake love

Of course, the ONE time I don't have my camera, I catch two rattlesnakes in the act of courting. I did the best I could with my camera phone (which sucks). It was actually really graceful and beautiful, and they could have cared less that I was there. I would have gotten in closer, but they were outside the property line (and they are RATTLESNAKES), so I was leaning over the fence as far as I could get and using zoom, but I still didn't get as good of pics as I would have liked. The whole time I'm shooting snake porn, they were winding around each other, sometimes twisting up in the air and entwining their bodies vertically. It was really fantastic to watch, and the first time (and probably last) in my 40+ years that I have ever seen it.

INCREDIBLE pics madhen........even with the phone.

Nature is soooooooo amazing isn't it? I marvel at things everyday.

That is pretty darn cool..........cool......but maybe not the 'brightest' thing to do. Gees......I probably wouldn't have realized what they were even doing. In fact.......my feet would have been going probably equally as fast as my HEART!!!

My dad used to save his 'rattlers' for me. Just came across one the other day....just a small one.

Trust me, they could have cared less. I would have gotten closer, if it hadn't been for my fence. Field fence, so no way to climb over gracefully. Although, if you look at the second photo, they were both looking at me! I took about a dozen shots, but these three were the best, unfortunately. It just really irritates me that I didn't have my camera. I need to start keeping one in the car (as I got this pic on my driveway when I got out to close the gate upon returning home from work).

As for knowing they were there, it was the movement and rustling of leaves that made me look. When you have two full-grown rattlesnakes twisting around each other and stretching themselves up to 18-20" or so up into the air, it tends to catch your attention!!

What, you don't want a framed pic of my snakes?

I will definitely keep that in mind (butterflies, not snakes), but I haven't seen many recently. They were out in droves a few months ago.

Yes, I live just outside of Placerville.

I'll have to look through my albums to see if I have any butterfly pics. I don't think so - I tend to gravitate toward the frogs and lizards - but I'll check and let you know if I find any.
