Default Discovered a nice, little gift idea...

It's New Year's Day, and like any good southerners, we are having black-eyed peas today. But unlike most southerners, I used canned peas this year - 2 cans of Trappey's brand at .50 each. When I opened them and then threw the cans in the trash (no recycling available for those in our area), I kind of hesitated, but could think of no good reason to save the two cans. But a few minutes later, I got a great idea. I got them out of the trash, washed them, and plan to punch holes in the bottom and plant basil seeds in them to give to two friends as a New Year's gift. The labels on the cans are rather nice looking, and will make a great New Year's motif for the gifts.

Or maybe, since I'd like to have them looking like actual plants, I could check under the artemesia outside and see if there are any small plants coming up. I guess I'll just take a walk around the yard later and see what's what.

I just thought I'd share. It's such a simple project and I think they are going to be really cute.

Oh, that's a neat gift idea. I could see one of those on my kitchen window sill!

I also went the canned route w/ my black eyed peas this year. What a cute idea to use those cans for plant containers - your friends will have good luck all year long!
