I agree, give the meat to a friend or neighbor!

Only one comment - check out local churches and meals on wheels - these folks will use the meat to provide meals to less forturnate. this way you will get it out of your freezer without eating it and it doesn't go to waste.

so it's been awhile since I posted this, my meat is nearly gone. I have cooked and served it to my family over the months..... but meat has become a "condiment" in this house rather than a main dish.
I still don't touch it, however.

As a fellow veg, gotta say way to go!

You were in a tough spot, and you definitely made the best of it!

So far I like the idea of trading or just eating it slowly overtime. It definitely seems wasteful to just throw it away. Have a big dinner with friends and family and let it be gone!

I agree with what others have said, with this one addition: do you have a friend whose been laid off, whose house is in default, or just having a hard time, give some to them. Or, find your local vets shelter and see if they'll take it perhaps?

If your family eats it, I can't figure out why you'd even consider throwing it away. Shelters, churches, rescue centers and food pantries may also take it.
I don't think it's necessary or ok to throw it away. If you're turning veg to prove something to yourself, that's one thing, but if your family still eats it and isn't changing as you are, there's no need to throw it out.

I don't think you should let the meat go to waste. Feed it to the family or give it to a food bank, but you might regret eating it yourself. Even if you don't feel bad about it, some veggies get sick from eating meat after going without for long periods of time.
