Wow, that's awesome! The local hospital out here has the worst food, all prefab and barely recognizable as actual food. When I stayed there I refused the meals and insisted that they bring me whole pieces of fruit, oatmeal/cereal & milk for every meal. I hope this trend spreads across our nation. Health and wellness starts on the dinner plate!

I think that is great!
One little side note..........so the hospitals quit.....but we still get the crap and then they wonder how come so many 'bugs' are hard to kill............HMMMMM!
If they would just LABEL it I would be pleased. Let the people eat it that want to.........

Really makes you wonder when a hospital refuses to serve "everyday meat" that can be bought at the supermarket.
I used to enjoy eating tuna fish. Don't anymore since it is not recommended for children and pregant women. UMMMMM, why should it be ok for me to eat?

When my Aunt became so ill from Cancer that she needed nursing home care, I would visit her several times a week. We had a rotation so she'd never be alone. Well, if you could have seen the food! It was all cream of souped out, everything covered in canned gravy, VERY On Cor dinner, all prefab & full of nasty stuff.
I asked about the food and they thought I was giving them a compliment! the nurse said "We totally revamped our meals, we have a new nutritionist on staff now" Good Gravy Folks!!! I just do not know how one can say that what they were serving trumped fresh fruits and vegetables, a piece of meat or beans, whole grains like brown rice & wheat bread. It blew me away.
Years ago this state run nursing home grew their own produce and raised their own meats & dairy. I'm guessing that it was just too costly to care for the poorest & sickest in our nation. One would think it would be cheaper...Hmm...maybe some government contract in exchange for..ahh, cough... contributions.~~~

Funny you should mention labeling it.
A few years ago this came up and the industry fought it and won claiming that Labels cause people unnecessary fear. That sales would drop and it would hurt the industry.
The funny thing is it is labeled. If it doesn't say all natural, organic, grass feed, antibiotic free, it isn't. It isn't so much about what the label does say as it is about what it doesn't say

Good for those hospitals. Personally I avoid any beef unless I know who raised it and how, because of growth hormones and anti-biotics. I have friends and relatives who raise beef, and I also buy milk from cows that don't get additional growth hormones. Luckily I live in WI where there are still a lot of small dairy farms, and so milk can be labelled that it is free of rBGH here. In some states it is illegal to even label that the milk doesn't have this crap in it.
I don't buy chicken or pork from grocery stores, either, because factory farming & anti-biotics for faster growth are so disgusting. For meat we eat mostly venison, or meat from small WI farms.
It is very sad that the meat industry is so powerful that they can avoid labelling meat truthfully. Instead, as the one person said above, if it DOESN'T say it is raised without crap, then it probably is.
