Went Vegan for 24hrs
And I had a good time, lol. I wouldn't want to eat like that all the time but I am plan on changing things up a bit.
We went to visit with Hubby's sister & family this weekend and they eat vegan. Jack didn't tell me they went vegan until we were on our way there, what did he think I was going to do, freak out? Sure I love my cheese and meat but I can go with the flow. As long as she doesn't have only stuffed peppers (shiver) on the menu I'll be ok.
We got there in time for lunch & had the most amazing soup
Carrot Bisque. This link saves me from typing, lol and this soup was all creamy unlike the one in this pic. We had it with a really nice bread. So so good and filling! Make it!
Hors dourves before dinner were a mix of things Falafel, pot stickers, olives, sushi...
For dinner we had Orzo Pilaf with Peas,Pearl Onions, and Roasted Red Peppers , Mâche salad and again an awesome bread. Dessert was a chocolate tart with strawberries.
Breakfast, Steel Cut Oats with lots of goodies and scones with cranberries.
Glad I had an opportunity to try some new things and I'm going to be cutting back on using so much meat in our diets.
Don't be afraid of trying new things, you just may be pleasantly surprised.
Thought of you Libby as I was typing this since I know you like to try new things.

I eat a lot of vegan meals, some even my guys like. LOL! I'm glad you had an opportunity to try some vegan meals. Thanks for sharing the recipes.
We like peanut noodles, which is a peanut sauce over cold soba noodles. It's garnished with julienned cucumber, actually more then garnished, I load the plates up with julienned cucumber. It is beyond good!
I'm a huge fan of hummus, cucumber slices and field greens on a really dense whole wheat bread. Not so much the rest of my family.
And wacky cake is vegan! *giggles*~~~

Mmmm...How fun! I would eventually love to go vegan some day. I'm not even vegetarian at this point. I always feel not full after eating a meal with no meat in it....I need to learn new recipes to incorpate vegan/vegetarian type meals into my daily dishes....all those foods sounded so good and not so hard to make! Glad you had a chance to try vegan, even for a short time!

So glad you liked it. When she served it to us she forgot the maple syrup too, lol. The smell of it reminded me of the good smells of this new age/whole foods store I used to shop in years ago. Their food always smelled so so good.

We stayed at a vegan bed and breakfast several years ago in Vermont. The food was amazing. I'm a vegetarian, so it wasn't too much off the beaten track for me.
