I do sun tea in the summer time and in the cooler months I fill a gallon jar with the hottest tap water I can get and brew the tea for 2 hours. I add some peppermint extract before putting the finished tea into the refrigerator to give it a little zing.

I make it for hubby during the summer. I also throw in good sized handfuls of herbs from my garden (singly or in combination) - peppermint, spearmint, orange mint, chocolate mint, anise hyssop, pineapple sage, lemon balm... he loves it all

My aunt still does this to this day. Had never heard of the bacteria thing before... but it hasn't killed any of us yet!

My mom used to make it growing up

Though I hear leaving it out in the sun doesn't really do anything in particular.
