Sun Tea.
In the late 70's early 80's I had a clear glass one gallon jar and use it to make sun tea. I filled it up with water and put 3 tea bags and stuck it out side in the sun for a couple of hours or desired color or strength. Was wondering if anyone else use to do this.

I grew up with my mom making it all the time and I used too. Then they came out with all those studies on sun tea and bacteria or something.
Oh well, it's still fun and frugal to make.

You can make it inside on your dryer in the winter.

Yes, we used to do it when I was a wee one. I can't find a container I like though.

I liked this article, talks about the concerns but not in a "don't do it omg!! way." Is Sun Tea Safe to Drink? - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com
We grew up having sun tea while camping. I loved seeing those jars sitting out on the picnic tables. If any of us got sick off them I doubt we would have directly related it to the tea. I haven't made it myself, though, I always just had the instant powder stuff in the pantry and now have progressed to green tea bags on hand for a quick glass.LDR

I still do it every spring through fall, I use two glass gallon jars that I've had for about 20 years.

We still do it w/ tea bags 3. Just don't sugar it and only leave it out a couple hours. I like cinnamon and ice tea. We bring it in and sugar it. Then pop it in the fridge. Cheap non koolaid drinks.

I grew up with sun tea, too, and we (well, DH) still make it all summer long in a glass gallon jar. Frugal and delicious. And yeah, I'm just not gonna worry about the bacteria.
We don't care for sugar in our tea. DH usually mixes plain black tea with Constant Comment or jasmine or something else with a different flavor. I especially like when he adds an herbal peach or raspberry bag to the jar. Yum!

I make it all summer long. I like it with a few bags of regular and a few bags of Raspberry team in it. The bacteria thing drives me crazy. I'll drink my sun tea with my raw cookie dough and homemade ice cream.

My mom has always made it and I don't think she'll ever stop. If I can ever find a container I like, I'll make it too. I LOVE it. I'll be sitting with Intlmom eating the cookie dough and drinking my tea!
