Yes - thyroid tests important as hairloss is associated with this. Don't let the doc tell you that you are in the "normal" range. Ask to see the results, as him to explain them to you and make sure that he knows that the current "normal" range for TSH is under 3.0, NOT under 5.0. That's the old level that was changed a few years ago.

my hair thins when stressed i use aussie moist shampoo and 3 minute miracle conditioner ( although dont leave it on for 3 minutes )
keeps my hair healthy without weighing it down or darkening it with too many oils etc ( some conditioners are too heavy and do that to natural blonde hair which is already usually thinner )

i can buy the pump size shampoo for 5.99 ( which the pumps = less over usage and spillage ) and it can last almost 4 months and thats with several of us using it - and the conditioner ui can get for under 4$ it lasts about 2 weeks because my younger daughter with a lot of hair that is curly uses it to keep her hair from looking frizzy . with it she has taylor swift type of curls but natural .without it her hair looks dry no matter what she puts on it ,

I have a B12 deficiency that causes this to happen, I also have some gray hair at 30 because of this, and i'm always feeling cold especially in my feet. I'm taking B12 everyday now.

I've started deep conditioning every Sunday evening with that conditioner they use in the salon--Queen Helene Cholesterol. I got a big vat of it for like 5 bucks @ Walmart. I slather about 1/2 a cup (or more) on my dry hair then put a light cotton tea towel on the top and put the heating pad on my head for about 45 minutes. Then I rinse it out and let it air dry. The next morning I shampoo, condition and style as usual and my hair is so soft and remains so for much of the week. It's Thursday night now and my hair is very soft.

My hair is in the best condition it's been in as long as I can remember bc of this conditioning treatment.

    Default Baking soda

My wife and I recently started using baking soda in our hair (well, on the scalp, as that is what shampoo is for). It is working well! You will have to endure a few weeks of oil and dandruff, but that is just your body trying to find the correct amount of oil to produce.

We are also working on switching our body wash and conditioner.

Conditioner will be vinegar (also, apple cider vinegar works) and essential oils of choice.

We currently use a body bar as body wash. We will be switching to home-made (with rainwater and other ingredients) all-natural body soap that can also be used as shampoo/conditioner/shaving.

And along with the TSH...........have them run the T3 and T4.........they will skip this USUALLY unless you ASK (?and demand) for it.

T3 and T4 have to work together...........

I think your hair is overloaded with protien. Strengthening shampoos and conditioners have protien in them, and many people find they dry out hair, leave it brittle.

So I would recommend clarifying with prell or neutrogena clarifying shampoo.

I like my hair really clean and fluffy, so I use prell on my scalp
Every 2 days, and a half dollar dollop of prell conditioner in my ends. I blow it dry, and wear it up at night. ( makes that blowout last!)

I have long, thick, red colored hair that is about to my butt. Lol, I read at a hair forum occasionally. So that is where my
    "professional" opinion comes from.

Oh, and stress and hair shedding go hand in hand. When the stress stops the hair stops falling. It's actually normal to go through a major shed every 7 years. See your doc and have him check your thyroid/ vitamin levels, but it could likely be nothing.
