natural scrub cleanser
I found a recipe online for making a natural scrub cleanser. It was recommended for countertops, sinks and toilets. I made it w/ baking soda and Dr. Bronner's castille soap (no specific amts were listed, I just added some of each until I liked the consistency). I mixed in an empty dish liquid bottle that had been rinsed out several times. My main purpose for making it was to use as a toilet and sink cleaner for my kids' bathroom.
Now here's the problem I hope someone can help me solve: After using it once, the baking soda settled in the bottle and I had to stick the handle of one of my spatulas in it to stir it up before the next use. The same thing happened a second time, of course. Then I figured I should leave it sitting upside down so I could actually squirt it out. But the baking soda got stuck in the top, so I had to remove the top and stir again anyway.
Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong? Is there anyway to keep this cleanser more liquid-like? (Oh, I did add water the 2nd time I used it; but now on my 4th use, baking soda is still settling.)
Thanks!

You could probably use it as a paste just apply a small amount on the area you want to scrub and go from there.

I do a similar mix using dish liquid instead. It always settles, I guess that's the downside of a natural product. My trick is to add enough water so I can just shake the bottle vigorously and everything is mixed again just before using the product.

Great idea. But does it kill germs?

I use a recepie simalar to this, and I do always have to stir it before using it. But I would much rather do that than use all the chemicals in store bought cleaners.
