Flexitarian?
~Flexitarian is a term I heard only recently. It refers to someone who eats about 90% vegetarian and 10% carnivore.
It's interesting finally knowing a term for what I do. I was getting tired of explaining how meat icks me out but I'm not a real vegetarian because I eat bacon, dried beef and lunchmeat occasionally and chicken once or twice a week. Now I can hit people with "I'm a Flexitarian" and then explain what that means.
Just doing some quick math, I've had 9 ounces of meat(chicken only) in the last 7 days.
Is anyone else a Flexitarian?~~Constance

We are, but not by choice. The economy makes it so. But I'm learning all kinds of ways to make it seem like we are eating more meat than we are. It's taken a lot to get used to.

I guess I am, but I always just considered myself an omnivore.

I am closer to a Pescatarian, but I base which animals I eat on how fresh and minimally processed they are. I don't trust the meat/food industry or their standards for what is "edible" (remember the undercover video a few years ago of the "downed" cows being pushed with a forklift into the slaughter line?)
For example: I eat seafood because I live in south Louisiana and know that I can get fresh seafood locally. I will eat wild game, I will eat animals from farms/companies where I know the animals were treated fairly, not pumped full of hormones and slaughtered humanely. Plus, organic meat just tastes better!
I have also noticed that my migranes that have bothered me since middle school have disappeared 99% since I stopped eating preservative-filled lunchmeat!

I would say that about describes me, maybe less than 10%. I doubt that I've had 9% in the last 10 days even. I eat chicken maybe once a week, at the very most twice a week, the pepperoni on whatever pizza I eat, once in a while bacon and the occasional BMT at Subway. Very little else or in between. No hamburger in spaghetti sauce.
Guess my biggest hamburger consumption would be when I fix tacos cause I can eat a ton of them but I don't fix that often, maybe once every 3 months if that.
Just not a meat eater but I do love my milk, eggs, cheese etc. My cardiologists nightmare.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I guess that would describe me too. I don't usually buy meat in the grocery store, don't trust it. Don't eat out much either.
I will eat beef grown locally or venison from friends who hunt.
I think bacon is a gateway meat for vegetarians. I try to convince myself that the pigs, who usually look like they are smiling a little, are happy to sacrifice themselves so that I may have bacon.

I guess I am a flexitarian too! It's easier than saying "I'm not a real vegetarian, but I wont eat anything with parents

Basically, I will eat eggs, chicken and fish.,, but only fish that came from egg -- nothing "live birth", nothing born in the shape it will be for the rest of its life.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I have to be by choice. I have Genetic pancreantitis. Red meat is toxic to my body. So 90% of what i eat is veggies and fruits. I can eat fish and chicken a couple times a week. I can have yogurt. Dairy products in general hurt me, im not lactose but my pancreas doesn't like it. Bacon is a huge NO NO for me. It's toxic for me. I can eat 2 slices of bacon and end up in the er with IV and in the hospital for a few days NPO.
If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not to
people or things.

I am. I will eat chicken or fish but only when I'm out or eating at someone's house. On my own time/dime meatless is cheaper!

Sounds like me, I've always been that way. Though I would probably say more like 95%/5%. I just don't love meat that much.

I also don't like meat much. But my dh has to have it everyday. I'll eat a little chicken and maybe a piece of ham when we have it which isn't very often. As for the rest of the meat I'd rather eat cereal.
