Question Are you and your family all vegetarian?

I could easily drop meat for myself. I know dh couldn't though. I am wondering if anyone is vegetarian and are your family members too?

I was raised vegetarian and never had a problem with it..wasn't until I got pregnant that I ever really craved meat..

My husband would go nuts without meat..but I do enjoy some meat now and then..even though I prefer vegetarian products.

Our DIL is a vegetarian. She is trying to allow very little meat in our two youngest granddaughters diets as well. I really feel guilty about my meat consumption. I would really like to be a vegetarian myself. I have cut way back on meat in my diet the last couple of years.

Definitely not vegetarians here, but I have cut way back on meats- not only to cut back on the grocery bill, but to also make us eat more veggies instead of meat and potatoes, mac and cheese and all the other crap. I've been know to sneak Veggie slices cheese on our sandwiches, or even the shredded version in my meatless chili, pizza or whatever. DH doesn't know the difference- I take it out of the original package and put it in a Ziplock bag- and he'll eat it out of the bag. Now we may have meat maybe once a week and my cholesterol really shows for it- I went from 226 down to 156.

    Us too!!

I'm working at feeding my family less meat and I'm working at doing the whole vegetarian thing for myself once again. Dh won't go for it. He has to have some meat and fish.

yep, I'm like jerry. I don't eat meat or chicken but I eat dairy, eggs (sometimes) and seafood about once a week. My elder son eats only organic meat, so he only eats that when I take him to the organic butcher. He refuses to own a car too. Most of the time he cooks vegetarian meals for himself and he's like me, he never uses products pretending to be meat.

My DH stopped eating meat for a few months once. He snapped and went out and bought himself a burger one day and has eaten meat ever since, although he does have a few good meals a week with no meat.

Oh man - we are the type that scare cows in a field - all of us must have meat every night for dinner - I crave beef. When I was pregnant with Aimee it was all I could do to keep from eating Hamburger raw!! Pika!!

My FH is a vegetarian. We mostly eat vegetarian meals when we eat together.

My son and I do eat meat, but not daily. And it's extremely rare I eat beef. Maybe twice a year.

I just decided to try being "mostly meatless" -- so far so good... of course it's only been three days.

When I met my Dh I was veggie ( but not then Vegan) he was NOT veggie..............However, without ANY prompting ( or requests) from me he gave up meat and we both gave up dairy at the same time about 10 plus years ago.

These days despite a family history of high Blood pressure and high cholesterol, I have a very normal BP and low cholesterol.

Plus I burn up my food much faster than I used to ......and it's always nice to make a little room for a bit of chocolate!

DH and I do not eat a lot of meat. We eat lean turkey or chicken usually twice a week, pork once every two months now and I never buy beef. We don't eat seafood because DH can't stand it in the house. (hates smell as well as taste). So for our main protien we eat beans, eggs, cheeses, milk, some soy, etc. When I do use meat we make it stretch in casseroles that will feed us for dinner one night and lunch the next day, etc.

Smile I am, they are not

I am and my husband and teen daughter still at home are not. It is difficult because I often have to cook myself different things but on the flip side, when I cook food for them, it lasts for 2 days since there is a lot left over so I dont have to cook but every other day for them. It is very hard for me to even buy meat, many vegetarians wont but I look at my being a vegetarian like religion, it is my thing, my belief and I dont force it on anyone. I know the idea is to get people to be a vegetarian but if people ask me why, I just say it is personal preference but if they continue to ask more even after I tell them it is not pretty then I will tell them why. I am not crazy about it like I accidently took a bite of meat a few times. It is just natural to taste the food you are cooking and I forgot who and what I was cooking for. Also, there are times you just dont know what is in food, like was the beans in this frozen burrito made with lard or vegetable oil, sometimes it wont say. Of course I dont eat any obvious foods like gravy, chicken soup, but it is difficult to do but it is doable. I can cook several vegetarian meals that they like too so it works out.

I'm single and vegetarian. But I love cooking and have people over when I can, and plan cooking nights with my family. I've found people don't care about the label your food falls under, as long as you're serving them and it's tasty!
