Question Gelatin?

Is this still made from animals? I heard it was made from hooves?

Thanks,

Christy

I'm going to look further into this, but this is what i have found so far: (trying not to throw up)

1 says it is made from decaying cow hydes
another says snouts an knuckles
another pig skins
and another says from any part of the animal that has collegen
and i also found a study that was done (not to scare you) that was questioning if animals from country's w/ mad cow disease could give us that disease.....not only from "jell-o" but from other things including makeup and skin creams, cake mixes and gummy bears, vitamins, gel caps used for drugs and even vaccines.
here's the link if you'd like to see

sorry to gross anyone out....just giving the facts

Default Gelatin

I understand there is a good vegetarian alternative to gelatin, and it is AGAR-AGAR. I got some at a vegetarian co-op near me, and it was VERY pricey; I haven't used it yet, but I guess you could use it just like the "regular" stuff. I used to be a vegetarian, but I still would like to clear steer of gelatin.

Wow, I am almost sorry I asked. Yikes!

The bad thing is gelatin is in a lot of things. Candies come to mind.

Hmmm, trying to decide if I am brave enough to check out that web site.
