Anyone quit using the microwave??
I've been hearing so much about the dangers of using the microwave. Everything from NOT to use it to using in only to heat things up instead of cooking them. I'm curious if anyone else here has quit using it?
I still have mine -- hardly use it at all right now but its still on my counter just in case!Heather

I have one but rarely use it. It's a $200+ popcorn popper.

I gave up the microwave when we sold our condo last year and are currently renting an apartment. The apartments kitchen didn't come with a microwave, DH and I decided that we didn't want or need to buy one. My thought was "what did people use before microwaves?" They used the stove
I have not missed the microwave at all.

I did not actually give up using a micro., I gave mine away years ago and never replaced it. I don't really miss it. But, I have been thinking about getting another for almost 2 years now, cuz, I want a modern convenience (no cable either)

I use mine a lot, since I'm the one to eat all the leftovers....I'm always heating up a bit of this and that. Also we use it to heat our coffee up, the coffee pot just never seems to get it hot enough for us. I also love my microwave popcorn. Isn't it a lot more frugat to use the microwave to zap something? then to throw it in the oven ? I would have to replace mine, if something happen to it.

We use ours all the time.
I make big meals. The leftovers go into serving size dishes that replace the small convience meals we used to buy for my DHs work lunches. I just take one of these meals out at lunch time for myself and heat it up. Saves us lots of $$ on our grocery bills.

ama - I would like to stop using ours due to health concerns, but the electric rates here have gone up yet again and there's no way I could afford to reheat things in the oven or on the stovetop without the electric bill being outrageous. Maybe someday as we keep striving every day to improve our natural living journey.

My microwave broke before we moved last year, and I never replaced it. I don't miss it at all. I don't even want one!

We very rarely use ours. Pretty much just to "boil" water for a cup of tea now and then.

This is what mine became. I didn't have one for years. Last year I thought I needed one. We only use it for popping popcorn!!

I love mine, and use it. Dh works with microwaves at work, the big industrial kind and we are fairly up on the range of research results, and neither of us are worried.
