Maybe it's just me, but I hate to see big companies gobbling up smaller companies. The Wal-Marts of the world are taking over everything. JMO, but I used to love going to 5 & 10 cent stores when I was small and now they are all gone. Maybe I'm just getting old. (well, duh? of course I am)But you know what I mean.

I agree joyann. There was a movement here in Louisville called teh "kepp Louisville Weird" that was trying to get Louisvillians to shop at store owned by locals as opposed to large chains. I don't think it went very well.

I heard about that. I would be keeping an eye on their ingredients now.... IT's all I use for toothpaste and deoderant. I may just have to start making my own. At least Tom made some decent cash for his endeavour.

I can see a benefit to this. Because of the demand for natural products, a lot of the big companies are being forced to provide that or lose out on sales. I have a friend who works for General Mills, and there is a big push on them to go natural. That might give those of us who can't afford some of this stuff an ability to be more healthy too. I do hope that they will keep their standards high, and that will be something to watch for. And, hey, now Tom and Kate can have a nice, long, vacation. Just trying to find a bright side...

Oh man! I loved the fact that Tom's of Maine was independent and was all natural. I love and use their toothpaste and deodorant. Yep, I'll be keeping a close eye on the ingredients as well.
