Exclamation anybody else catch NBC dateline on the ethanol fuel story?

It was fascinating. Apparently Brazil has these flex fuel engines where they can run on 80% or maybe it was 100% alcohol fuel OR regular gas.

Apparently Brazil is making ethanol to beat the band from sugar cane, and they've totally stopped importing foreign oil.

The investor/scientist who they interviewed sounded pretty good too. He was one of the Sun microsystems engineers or some such thing, and is quite rich and making it his big thing to get people to switch.

I would LOVE to see the oil profits stay home and benefit farmers instead, and just think of all the howling and fussing when the oil cartels don't have a market any more.

    Serve em all right!

Apparently this guy has been warned by the big oil guys to watch it. He is saying bring it on!

The cars are made by GET THIS-- the big 3 american auto makers. So why not here in NA?????

Can't happen too soon for me!

Well, something needs to be done. That's for sure. I keep wondering what will it be like for, say, our great-grandchildren if something's not done about the dependence on oil.

Margery, I can't wait till they bring it to Canada, and then maybe outwest the Goverment will help the farmers even more, beacuse it won't be jusr afood source , it will be fuel source.

I know I'm going to keep an eye out. It's usually quite a few more years before we switch to a newer vehicle (run it till the wheels fall off) but when we do, the top thought i have is fuel economy, and this flex option sounds terrific.
