I think Dh thinks I've turned into a hippie...
Which isn't true. I've been a hippie for a looooooong time.

But lately I have stepped it up. We really started recycling, I have been changing to energy saver light blubs, talking about starting a compost and we started discussing homeschooling . So of course just to keep DH on his toes, I dropped the cloth diaper bomb on him during lunch.
The good thing after telling him all about it, he agreed!!
One more step to saving the planet.

There's nothing hippy-like about what you are doing. It's called being a thoughtful, caring, responsible human being. And there is something terribly wrong with people who know they should do these things and yet don't.

nothing wrong with being a little hippie. we have done all of those same things. we used cloth diapers up until solid foods then i switched to disposable (i figured the diapers i saved from the landfill the first three months we better than nothing) and we potty trained ASAP (at 3 almost on the dot)
we recycle (while pms'ing i once cried about how DH refused to put his newspapers in the bin LOL)
have CFLs everywhere, low flow shower heads, i keep the heat down, use environmentally friendly laundry detergent and cleaner and have started paying attention to where we shop.
a little hippie is GREAT!Reba

I can totally relate. I even rinse my aluminum foil if possible to recycle it.
I called Allegheny Power once and asked if I could get wind power from them. When they said no I asked "WHY NOT?"
There are sites like [url=www.nativeenergy.com]NativeEnery[url] where you can "offset" the amount of carbon you throw into the air. Basically you help fund renewable energy projects such as methane farms.
I think wind turbines are majestic.
Giving money to the NRDC, among other organizations is a worthwhile expense for me.
After all, I come from northern Oregon, land of hippies.
