I like to focus more intently on Earth Day. Get up early and go out and watch the sun rise, take walks, look for new plants/rocks/bugs/animals/etc.

I also often pick up cans and trash, sometimes barehanded and then wash them immediately after, sometimes with plastic gloves or grocery bags over my hands. We picked up 346 cans at a picnic area one time - boy did it look better after we were done, and I cashed them in.

I'm planning on doing something "special", just don't know what yet. Maybe some or all of the following: not drive at all that day, no shopping, vegetarian meal made at home, if there are any local clean ups going on participate in one of those. Figured since we don't celebrate any holidays (except small scale Christmas) this would be a fun one to celebrate since it would teach DS about environmental things.

I have made a lot of changes this years so far I live very close to a dump and it gets bigger everyday so I decided to do something I recycle everything now and watch what we buy compost for the garden by used use cloth napkins use cloth bags to shop. We also changed what we eat I had a health scare in jan so we eat very healthy local organic whole grains etc walk daily I have lost 22 pounds so far so that is what I mean by everyday being earth day for us now.
