    Default Reusable grocery bags?

I'm late making the jump to cloth grocery bags, but I've been hesitating partly because the only inexpensive ones I've seen have some store's logo on them. :-P Anyone know where I could get plain ones? I don't think making my own is cost-effective.

I'm not real sure as I live no where near you. But would you be able to sew a piece of material ove the logo? Or decorate it some how? I have lots of different ones with shops logos on them but I'm not fussed about it.

Oh, I'm not bothered enough by it to alter the store's bags. ;-D I'd just prefer plain ones if I could find some inexpensive ones.

Another question: what are the dimensions of the bags you use? I'm looking at bags on eBay and wondering what a good size is . . . :-)

They have totes at the dollar store here that would work perfectly. They are very durable looking, brightly stirped and quite nice.

Mine, however, did come from the grocery store, but the logo is nice. Mine are black with green leaves on them.

I made mine out of old jeans that were getting ready to be tossed as my two boys don't leave much to them when they out grow them. What's left though is strong and good for large patchwoork bags.

I found lots of mine at yard sales and thrift stores. They have pretty designs and no store logos.

Why do you care if they have the store logo on them?

I have three I bought from Safeway for $.99 each and they're welcome at other stores. In fact, I took them into one store and they gave me 6 cents credit for each one.

The target ones do not really have a logo and they are .99 and zip fold to fit in your purse. My kids bought themselves each one to carry in their purse. My son was given a large white one at college that he was using.

the ones at most stores you can buy now are WAY too small.
meaning "buy more than one bag for all the crap you'll buy here anyway!"

so I use my OWN totes. I either make them myself or have several setting around.

I'd recommend using a size that is comfortable for YOU for how much/heavy you can carry in your arms or on your shoulders.

I have different sizes for different types of "trips".

I have YET to have anyone say anything to me for not using their stores bags. At least, nothing negative.

You can usually get some free totes online for filling out surveys too!

that's where I've gotten a lot of mine.

Also, some stores, if you ask if they have cotton carry-all's (payless shoes for instance) will give you one for free to carry your merchandice.
(note: i dont know if payless shoes still gives them out, but yrs ago that's how i got mine.)

also, charity organizations also have bags you can buy.
OR (even cheaper) go to your local thrift store.

I've bought brand new bags for less than 5$ great sizes, shapes, designs and lots of pockets too!

I recently got some very nice ones at Walgreens. They are green and have a green living logo on them, but not a particular store's name. What I really liked was that when they are quite large with a sturdy bottom for support. They are perfect for carrying staples like boxes of cereal, jars or cans and will stay upright in the car (kinda like brown bags do). These bags were near the eco-friendly display of products on an endcap and cost $0.99 each. I bought five of them to keep in the car.

I don't really care, I just wanted something cuter. =D I actually bought 5 at Winco the other day--they're green and say Winco on them, but they are a nice size and have good handles and a removable stabilizer for the bottom. And they were .89 each, so for that I decided I didn't need cute.

I can't give up my plastic grocery bags, I recycle them into garbage bags used in the kitchen.

What I can't figure out is why I pay for the city to recycle my stuff yet they want me to organze it for them. If this were a free service, seems I would be happy to organize it for them but since I'm paying for it, why should I sort it out for them? They won't pick up lots of stuff if you sort it in the bins anyway and I have a real problem with this.

I've found it better to not sort things out for them and just bag it up and let them worry about sifting through it as to what they can use or not use.
