Reel lawnmower
I ordered a reel mower today for $159 a no shipping.I've been wanting one for along time and have been saving money for it all winter. It only weighs a little over 17 lbs. so even with my bad knees I should be able to handle it on my banks.I really had trouble using my old gas mower on the banks. My DD's boyfriend said he used have one of these new type reel mowers and he really liked it and it did alot better job than the gas ones. The one like I ordered has steel tempered blades that say's don't need sharpened for 8-10 years and I won't have to buy gas for mowing now which I really like.

Could you please share where you ordered from? Just told dh at lunch I needed one. I need to exercise everyday & I think it would be great to have one of these. Get something done while I'm getting exercise! DH thought I was kidding, but with gas prices it seems like a better idea all the time. We have a really big yard, but if I could do even a small area it would help! Thanks!

These look cool! A real throw back almost. My DS would die if I got one of those over our self propelled gas mower! But a question? Wouldn't the grass come back and hit your shoes? I know they have the catchers, but what if I didn't want one of those? Mmmmmm. Still a good thought and away from gas mowers!

I got it at peoplepoweredmachines online ,I ordered
the Sunlawn LMM-35 there was a neighbor boy I used to watch mow with one he seemed to have fun with it, he was about 10 years old.I don't know about getting grass on your shoes but I'll wear old ones for mowing so it won't matter much.

Quick
The lawnmower came today didn't think it would be here this soon.Got it put together didn't need any tools at all.Wish I had ordered it last week could have used it yesterday can't today because it's raining. My little grandson who is here has mowed my livingroom several times ,he says he's going to cut all the grass .His favorite color is green the picture showed a red one he kept telling me Nana it's going to be green.Yes it is green ,he said see Nana I told you it would be green.

My DAd gave me one of those old type push lawnmowers years ago. It nearly killed me trying to cut grass with it and I ended up putting it out for the trash collection.I guess I didn't know how to use it or adjust it right because it was too hard to push and I don't think a kid could have pushed that heavy thing around.

I had one several years ago. We do have a big yard, though, and it sometimes took me a day and a half to mow it! Of course, then, I had three small children and I was frequently having to stop to do something with them....
... anyway, I did think it was kind of cool. If I had a much smaller yard, I would definitely use it again. Good exercise and good for the environment. Plus, it is nice and quiet.

Handymom ,you had one of the old ones I'm sure there is no way I or my grandson could push one of those. This one is lightweight not even 18 lbs.I did lots of research before I bought it to find the best ones.I heard some of the new ones are still hard to push and the blades need sharpened every year.I think this one will be easier to use than my old gas push mower was. It's supposed to be nice Sunday and the grass should be dry I'll find out then.

Used it today
I just got done mowing my backyard with it the grass was too tall from not getting mowed last fall I had to go over some of it 4 times. At first it was hard but as I got it knocked down it was easy.I started out with blades at 2 inches then ended up with them at 1/2 inch.Going to do the front tomorrow it will be easier because it's not tall like the back was.

We have one, and it is nearly impossible to push. We ordered an electric mower instead. We'll be putting the reel mower up on Craigslist when it arrives. So, you aren't alone in not loving those mowers!
Definitely a workout to push them, but they are great for smaller yards.

The reel mower is a snake killer found that out even tho I didn't want to.Yesterday I was mowing with it going along good and the blades stuck I looked down and there was snake in it kinda chopped up. I yelled real loud OH MY GOD!! I don't hate snakes but I don't want to get close to them ,this one wasn't a baby either. If it hadn't come out by pulling the mower backwards the mower would still be laying there in the yard,no way I'm going to touch a snake.
