what are you dressing up for halloween?
i'm seriously thinking of making my own genie outfit... something reminescent of 'i dream of genie' type outfit... but a little different in colour and probably no sleeves... but definitely something fun for a hat/veil.

what are you going as?

I am not sure.
I have always went as some sort of wench for the last 10 years. But am thinking of something different this year.
I like to dress up scary when I give the candy out, but not sure about that this year either.

I have 2 costumes planned out...
Originally I was going to stay home (alone) and watch movies in my jammies, curlers and green facial...
The ex and I are talking about taking DD out together this year (it's his Friday, but she wants to go to where I always take her).
If we go out, I will be a Cat Burglar... cat ears and tail, make a tool belt and tools out of felt.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I have been thinking of this all day. Still not sure what I was to dress up as. But I have been looking at a lot of costumes.
DH wants me to dress sexy this year. Not sure if I can pull that off! LOL But we will see.

i'm thinking of hitting the thrift stores and seeing what's there... but no idea how to do pontoon looking pants! LOL
i can take any old tank top or mid-riff and turn it into a genie top...
maybe i'll look like a hippie genie... in multi colours... pschadelic!

Go to Joanns and get some gauzy material. (use a coupon)
get like two yards per leg. try to get the 54 inch width
get some elastic.
cut it to fit your ankles.
get a pair of old gym shorts. you know the ones with the white trim. kinda like hoochie shorts. LOL
sew the gauzy material to the shorts. start at the outside where the little V is. sew around to the other side, but to not connect the gauzy material. so that way, it is open.
sew the gauzy material to the elastic. and viola! you have genie pants. lol

Dh and I don't dress up for Halloween. We have 2 halloween parties we go to each year, but it's more of a kids party then a party for the adults to dress up too, I think we'd be the only ones dress in a costume at both of them.

easy mask
If you want to look super spooky for Halloween there is an old time mask made much like bread dough. It works super, and is awesome looking as it starts to dry. Its a very frugal way to do a mask that comes out different every time you do it.
Use a good moisturizer, spread it pretty thick so your face don't get to dry from the dough.
Put some flour in a bowl, add enough water to make it spreadable.
Spread it on your face, you can make lumps of it to look like warts or growths, and make it different depths to add a lumpy look to it. You can also color it, or just leave it plain. Either way looks great.
When it drys it starts to crack, it really does look awesome.
When you are done for the night be prepared to spend a little time getting it off.
You have to soften it to get it to come off. It does make a little bit of a mess when you remove it, but its nothing bad. It also pulls a little as it drys but nothing worse than a mud mask. Just soften and pell. I wouldn't use this on young kids, as it is a little work to soften it to get it off after it has dried.
Cheap to make, and works great to make it look super spooky. It does change your looks and people don't know who you are under it until you talk. It does really scare little kids if they don't watch you put it on, I made my niece and nephew cry, it really scared them. I did my face, added a black hat and cape and they didn't know who I was, they just kept saying oh no its Freddie Cruger!

I'm spending Halloween at a teen-science-conference, so I'm thinking about wearing something that fits into that context. Latin teacher maybe? Or a "tuition fees" themed t-shirt

... I've seen a woman go as a 'Substitute Teacher'. It was cute.
Dress 'professional', hair up, glasses, the works... then on the back, she she 'broken pencils' and a paper airplane stuck in her hair... a kick me sign on her back... and the back of her skirt tucked up into her tights.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

That's wonderful! I think I'll copy some of those ideas!
(We don't have substitute teachers here, but a lot of this works internationally
