Store-bBought Candy or Homemade Treats??
After thinking about this, I think that we will be having homemade Halloween treats this year instead. Sugar/cinnamon popcorn, candy apples & Halloween cookies (& anything else that I can think of to make). Just curious as to who else won't be buying into the candy market

I will make treats for Diva to have at home but I won't allow her to eat any HM treats she gets while trick-or-treating.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

We have lived here for 6 years and have yet to have a single person come by to trick or treat.
I give my kids a choice, $10 cash or $10 in candy. DS usually chooses the cash and DD takes the candy. She requests Reese's Peanut Butter Cup miniatures. She also says to wait until a day or two after Halloween when the candy is marked down to at least 50% so she can get double the amount.
If they go Trick or Treating with their friends then I only allow them to have store bought candy. I make them throw out anything homemade.DD (19)

Sad, but true reflection on our times I'm afraid. In 30 years we've had one trick or treater.

Store bought here and our neighborhood is crazy fun on Halloween. I'm out with the kids, so I'm not handing out that much.

I haven't handed out candy in a long time but I wouldn't give out home made treats because chances are they would toss them in the trash anyway. I like to make cupcakes for at home to share with family and friends. I love popcorn balls but need to find a really good recipe for them! Have not had one in years. When I was a kid the one neighbor made them and gave them out every Halloween and they were perfect with a sweet buttery flavor to them! I miss them. I've been missing a lot of things from my youth lately *sigh* but even the "good old days" weren't always that good.. lol.

No trick or treaters here. I will be making some home made treats for me, BF and the cats though. I will of course also be getting some candy at discount when they mark it down.

Handmade - and yes, I let my kids eat handmade treats as well. . . I won't take them somewhere where I don't trust the person giving the treats!

I make homemade treats for my kids and any that we know. I put them in a goodie bag with a note saying who it is from in case the parents forget. Kids I don't know get store bought treats. We never get alot of kids though.

Husband is working and I will be taking the kids out trick or treating, so there won't be anyone at our house to buy the candy. So I don't do anything.
I remember our first year at the house I bought about $50 in candy because I was SO excited to give out candy. We had maybe 7 trick or treaters. I was so sad.

My kids are too old for trick or treat but we have lots of trick or treaters still. I buy some snack candy bars and supplement w/ jolly ranchers. Sometimes I get juice boxes. No way I would trust HM treats some I never give them either.

We don't hand out candy at home. We usually take the little ones trick-or-treating and then hang out at the in-laws' house after wards. Since Halloween is on a Sunday this year we'll probably go trick-or-treating and then bed right after.

I would not allow my child to eat homemade treats unless it is from someone I know. We live in a safe, suburban neighborhood, but still...it would have to be someone I knew or it would get tossed. Lots of trick or treaters here. It's a fun night and yes, candy is expensive, but with coupons and sales it is affordable.
