We usually don't get too many kids. But I usually buy a few bags of Twizzlers , SweetTarts,or something similar. I like to buy things that don't melt and that I won't feel too guilty if I eat a few of the leftovers.

not sure yet. dh runs the concession stand for baseball and we've had it open for fall soccer. depending on how much candy we get rid of this coming week, we maybe making a donation to the league and giving out the leftover candy from the concession stand. nothing wrong with the candy, but it won't hold up well sitting until next baseball season. so if we don't sell it this week, it needs to go somewhere and i'd rather it didn't go in the trash.

Just thinking about this today- I'm not sure. We get so many kids here some years, other years none. I won't be home, but DH will, although I think he wants to take DD out. Who knows- maybe this year we will just turn the light off....

Darlene, you are more than welcome to bring some candy and come over to my house and pass it out. LOL

I am not a huge fan of trick-or-treating. I didn't like it much as a kid because when I was about 9 0r 10, people told me I was too old to t-or-t because I was too tall. Consequntly, I am just starting to enjoy it again now, 20 years later.

We live so far out in the sticks, we have never had trick or treaters. Maybe I need to advertise, lol. I would love to have them.

We don't get any either. When we lived in town, we used to have h.s. kids come to our house. (Dh is a teacher there) I would get cheap cany for the big kids and good candy for the little ones.

we used to go to our 6th grade teacher's house every year. she lived 2 houses down and across the street from my mom. she would actually get upset with us if we didn't stop by. it was fun to stop in and see her though. i only missed 1 year and that was when i had my son, but my sister missed a few years, and she's stop her in the street to tell her she missed my sister for trick or treating lol

We don't get many kids, but we're going to buy candy that neither of us likes so when we have leftovers, we won't be tempted to eat them

We live in a very rural and wild area. It would take a very brave trick-or-treater to walk up our driveway .
But we take our children trick or treating. My eldest takes the two younger ones. They will be snowwhite (bought last year after holloween for $2.75 .) And a ninja (cost $1 for sword).
I will not allow any treats containing peanuts in our home (our eldest is anaphalactic to peanuts ). So I carefully remove all the treats containing them and give them to Dh to take to school and give out at class. I let the younger two have the ones that have trace amounts but not eldest Dd!!!. They always end up with so much less than what they started with.
Then I take the treats and dole it out for treats after swimming or music etc, for as long as it lasts.

One suggestion for treats to give out is unfrozen freezies. You can get them at super cheap clearance prices right now. And they are something different so the kids appreciate it. Just an idea.
