No Halloween?
Because of the big storm two weeks ago they are talking about canceling Halloween around here. I understand that with lots of branches lining the curbs people would have to be a little more careful, but if parents took the kids and stayed on the side streets I think they would be okay. Mt five year old grandson is going to be crushed, thats all he has been talking about for weeks.

I would bet that even if the "city" says that Halloween is canceled that the children of the city will say different and that there will still be trick or treaters out. If the city does make some kind of proclamation like that, it should put on some type of Halloween activity for the kids, here we have a "safe kids Halloween" and the city sponsors it at a local hotel complex, all the first floor office doors are decorated by area businesses and organizations and they give out candy and treats to trick or treaters. It does not keep all the kids off the streets but it does keep some.

I agree with Katybird. You can't stop Halloween, or another holiday just because the City says so. If they are going to say that they should (just like Katybird said) have something else. Like at the mall if you have a big one, something. I don't know about you but I think the Mayor or who ever is talking about it may get a lot of eggs hitting there house.

I agree, you can't just cancel halloween, the children look forward to this and I cant imagine the heartbreak all those children would have if they couldnt go trick or treating.
They shouldnt cancel it but maybe make a halloween dance or something where the kids are safe indoors with candy and snacks and parent supervision. Since all the parents in the neighborhood dish out candy anyway they could make a festive event with toys, games, prizes, candy, snacks, soda and tons of fun!

Ugh. Where I come from we often have to design our Hallowe'en costumes to fit over snowsuits because the weather can be so unpredictable. I just couldn't bear it if Hallowe'en were to be cancelled.

You can't stop Halloween. Maybe they could just have it at a different time so that everyone can see what they are doing.

halloween
We didn't do halloween with our five kids as they were growing up. We usally got together with another family and had pizza together. We found it too scary and evil for our kids to do. I also think it's not very safe taking the kids door to door. I just wanted you let you know that our kids made out just fine without it.
