I'm not particularly overweight to begin with, and I have absolutley no idea where to start on shedding some weight anyway!! I'd might as well try it before spending another $600 to have more tests done at the gyno, but I might also need clomid as I don't think there's any ovulation going on

Oh, and they already tested all of my thyroid functions and hormone levels, and it's just my disfunctional ovaries. It's a good thing, I guess

I would definitely check out soulcysters.com and I would say that if after 6 months on metformin, if your still not ovulating.. you should probably move onto clomid.

Have you talked to your dr that prescribed the Met about wanting to get pregnant? I know mine gave me a met script for 6 months and if I wasn't pregnant to call him and he'd prescribe the clomid. Unfortunately i'm not thin like you, so i'm also trying to lose some weight.

Good luck. Hopefully soon we'll both have babies in our arms!

Had to jump in and share my story

I started on Metaformin in Jan 2002. Got pregnant in June but lost baby to miscarriage. Got pregnant again in Dec 2002 and have my now 4 year old DS.

BTW, mine was secondary infertility. I had no problems conceiving my daughter but was diagnosed with PCOS when we starting ttc in June 2001.

I'm not the thinnest cookie in the bunch (around a size 12), but I'm not exactly overweight either. Would the Dr. prescribe the Clomid over the phone or would I have to go in for another appointment? We had to drop our insurance in January just to pay off the last set of medical bills, because the insurance didn't cover anything!

Hmm.. I don't think my dr. would do it over the phone.. However, if you check out that soulcysters.com, there is a whole section of alternative remedies that people use instead of clomid.. check that out first.. Most of them can be bought in a regular drugstore and might be a less expensive option for you..

I have PCOS, I was diagnosed ironically after my dd was born in 2006. I can count my my fingers how many periods I had in highschool and then after highschool how many I had. I'm in your boat, DH and I are trying to get pregnant again and it's not working. Last time I was starting to lose weight and eating really healthy and within a month is was enough to get my girl system working again and we concived (although we were definatly not trying at that point). I have my Met. script but I don't take it like I should because I can never rememeber to take it, although it would help me lost weight faster (I have about 120lbs to go) and make me more fertile.
Have you tried asking for a higher script? I don't think 1,500 is max....I could be wrong, like I said I've been bad about it. Plus even if you don't have much weight to loss, working out regularly helps. I'm also a memeber of soulcycters.com and I think it's a wonderful site to answer ANY question you could possibly have.
Good luck on your journey...babydust to yoU!!!!
