Default Are You Vitamin D Deficient?

    http://www.naturalnews.com/z023356.html

(NaturalNews) John Cannell, MD, founder of the Vitamin D Council is a tireless champion for Vitamin D research. He understands, like a growing number of scientists do, how devastating vitamin D deficiency is to our overall health. His website, vitamindcouncil.org is a virtual mega resource for vitamin D research, information on diseases related to deficiencies, the physiology of vitamin D, treatment for deficiencies and much much more.

Current U.S. recommendations for vitamin D are too low for millions of Americans

Dr. Cannell recently attended the Vitamin D Symposium in San Diego, California (April 2008) where top researchers in the exploding field of vitamin D research presented new data that supports a growing consensus that current government recommendations for vitamin D need to be raised, and soon.

Interesting. The best source of Vitamin D is still sunlight. Just 15 minutes out in the sun each day will do it. So get out there for a bit, then come back in and put on sunscreen before you head out for longer! Of course in cloudy places I guess we have to get it from our diet.

I was actually able to quit using sunscreen on my skin several years ago by creating a high internal antioxidant level in my system. I really started increasing my use of krill oil which has asthaxanthin in it, one of the best internal sunscreens you can take. Also, zinc and selenium. And plenty of blueberries, strawberries, goji berries and like wholefoods. I can stay out in the sun for most of the day and I do not burn. I live on lake Michigan during the summer, so I have to be careful. This is not for everyone though! If you burn easy, you would be wise to use a natural, non toxic sunscreen. I keep this handy for my grandbabies and slather them in it. I buy it through www.vitacost.com You can also find good natural sunscreens at your Health Food Store. Burts Bees is the one I alway's keep at our summer place. If any of our guests forget thier sunscreen I alway's like to have it on hand.

Fabulous! Thanks for the great info. I slather on my sunscreen but never liked all those chemicals seeping into my skin. I should check out a natural alternative.
