Well thanks for saying that, I do have lots of relatives who are 'stout' as well, but don't we all....? My body seems to be going along with my plan ok, it's just my mind that rebels....

I agree that genetics plays a huge part in this. My mom was pretty thin up until her upper 40's and then started gaining weight....then again she still continued to eat the same, like lots of junk food! I like being thin and don't want to gain that weight so I've been making sure to not eat lots of carbs, which can be hard, but this works great for me. Before, I could eat whatever I wanted and now I have to be more careful or else I will start to gain it in places I don't like......rather than places I would love for it to go!

Definitely! I agree that the key thing is eat when you're hungry, whenever that is and not to wait till you're starving or to eat when you "should" even if you're not hungry.

Also, I agree that it's important not to completely cut yourself off from food you know you enjoy, but to know what to eat plenty of and what to just enjoy bits of here and there.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and what you eat. I really haven't lost much after having my son almost 7 months ago and need a good nudge and some inspiration. I think this helped. We were going for quite a few walks but were unable to go today and will be unable tomorrow because it is above 90 here. I know what the problem is - I lack the motivation to get off my butt and work out. we eat pretty decent though I do have times where I will binge - and then of course feel bad and not get right back to eating well. I most definitely emotional eat and I also eat out of boredom. I KNOW what I need to do, and actually at one point a few years ago had went from 170 to 140. I think I use the fact that I have 2 little ones be an excuse for not working out. I need to limit my time on the computer (and sometimes on the tv). I'm 5'4" and about 190, so I need to get this off. Too bad I can't be on biggest loser. LOL. That would be some inspiration!! Of course I would lose tons because who would want to go on tv and NOT lose the weight. The competitiveness would just make me lose more. Maybe I need to have a little competition with dh (he also wants to lose some weight). We'll see.

Actually, most everyone in my family is thin. My mom and her mom were a little "thicker" and my oldest daughter takes after my mom more. My dad and his entire family, parents, aunts and uncles were all tall and thin, not a stout one in the bunch. My ex-husband's family was mostly thin too, my ex struggled with his weight a bit because he was a chef who likes to sample food, but he was never obese and with a little attention to what he's eating and being more active he slims right up.

I really do believe that we are not all supposed to be the same body type, but if you are reasonably active and eat reasonably well... then you should be happy with yourself as you are. Y
