Socialized Healthcare "thread" on this forum bad for my health
I can feel my blood pressure increasing in the "great healthcare debate". It is a good cause to debate, but I have put my two cents in, and I don't like feeling angry, so on to better and brighter things!
Live happy, eat healthy, exercise, and maybe you can stay away from doctors. I don't have any other solution. Keeping health care from those that can not afford it is "Social Darwinism" at its finest. Dang, there I go again. Can you tell I am a Liberal?

If you're going to leave a topic altogether, then adding another comment on the topic in your "i'm done with this topic thread" is just inviting another response, creating another topic on the same thing you don't want to discuss any further!
And for the record, Social Darwinism is a terrible concept. Man does not need to compete for survival. It's when man freely works together for a common aim that man achieves the most.

There is the feature where you can ignore individual users. Their posts do not show up. Only a statement saying something along the lines of "This post is hidden because the user is on your ignore list." You can open the posts and read them should you choose and you can remove or add users as you like.
I have not tried the new feature Sara mentioned. But from what I gathered, it allows you to ignore certain threads and/or certain forums. At least that is how I understood it. (Please correct me if I am wrong.)
Go to the Quick Links section at the top and click on the User Control Panel. That will take you to a new screen. Look to the left, there are two sections that involve the ignore features: one is under Settings & Options - then click Edit Ignore List. The other is a little farther down - IGNORE MANAGER.

I have used the ignore feature in the past and it does work great. My problem is that when I see that message "so-and-so's post has been hidden because of your ignore list" I'm just curious to see what they said and I un-ignore them. Curiosity killed the cat, right?! lol

I have not read that forum yet- being in healthcare and all I probably should read it.
But I must comment on one thing.
It's hard to believe that as adults, one can not listen to other people's opinions. And accept them as such.
It's shocking to me that people would go so far as to 'ignore' a person because they didn't agree with the person's opinion. I don't know what people think? Do people actually think that their opinion is the only opinion that matters and anything other than that opinion.. is wrong and therefore should be ignored?
Come on! ... it's just an opinion.
The person is not doing any harm to you or your family. (unless you allow the words to cut you- then.. well.. go ahead ignore we don't want any bloodshed here)
This is a safe and great way to practice 'tolerance' of other people's point of view. We all know... or should know by now... that our view point isn't the only view point. Right?
It's also a safe and great way to practice writing a persuasive argument. (and I think HisGlory will agree to that.
)
Just try to understand that some people are skilled at writing a good argument - others are not. Let's be tolerant of that. Help people to grow in the way they can verbalize their opinions.
And... it's also a safe and great way to learn something, see something, hear something from another perspective (not just your own).
IT'S A TOTAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY!! IT'S SAFE TO COME OUT OF YOUR BUBBLE NOW.
"ignoring it isn't going to make it go away"
did I take my meds?

Someone is welcome to ignore me or any threads in which I participate, if they wish. I, for one, only ignore spammers. While I am very firm in my convictions, one of my strongest convictions is that someone might always be able to prove me wrong somewhere. I'll never learn from anyone if I evade seeing what they have to say.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Me too Deb. I know the *perfect* way to not let it affect your health......don't read it. I very rarely check in on it.......

I think it's "healthy" to talk about these things and I enjoy reading everyone's opinion ~ whether or not I agree with it
