A Bombshell Drops on Cholesterol Medication's Glass House
http://www.naturalnews.com/z021147.html
It had to happen sooner or later. On October 3, 2006, after extensive review of all studies relating to cholesterol-lowering benefits by statin drugs, scientists reporting in the Annals of Internal Medicine pulled the rug out from under the current government-sanctioned cholesterol levels for reducing cardiovascular disease risk. Their conclusion, "current clinical evidence does not demonstrate that titrating lipid therapy to achieve proposed low LDL cholesterol levels is beneficial or safe." This is not a trivial issue. Many billions of taxpayer dollars have been wasted on the cholesterol drug scam. The health and well being of millions of Americans may have been compromised by reckless lowering of cholesterol, a substance that is vital to health and energy production.

Oh Countrybumpkin.. you're my idol!
I am doing research with that now - and ... well... despite the statins (and I won't go into the side-effects) people are STILL having cardiovascular disease requiring intervention.
Doesn't that say something?
Thank you once again for sharing

Have you ever heard of Shane Ellison, the ex drug chemist? You may want to research his work. He is now known as The People's Chemist.

Thank you CountryBumpkin! I have been trying to get my husband to pay attention to natural ways to lower cholesterol for a long time.. to no avail though. The doctor prescribes him meds for his diabeties, meds for cholesteral, meds for high blood pressure and I tease him ( sort of, I'm actually serious) that he uses that as a free pass to ignore diet and he eat what he wants.
I KNOW I can't change him, I KNOW he must do this own his own, I've stopped the nagging, but honestly, I've always been deathly afraid of these cholesteral meds. My own pharmacist told me he wouldn't take them! That got my attention ...
Anyway, thanks.. I'm going to go googling now :-)Change Jar - 239.00 ~ March 18 , 2006

Jellybeanz - there is a 2004 review on how magnesium is as effective as statins in lowering cholesterol and it explains the biochemistry. Would something like that convince hubby - watch out though - it may help clear up some of his other issues! You might even trying getting some CALM (magnesium citrate I believe) and making him some drinks with it!

I forgot to say that I told my sister-in-law about the magnesium when she tested high in cholesterol. She started supplementing and it is back in the normal range.

I've also read that magnesium helps high blood pressure as well, and can even prevent the one that pregnant women get... whatsit called, eclampsia?
