    Default placenta previa?

my dd is 12 weeks along and her ultra sound showed her with placenta previa. she also has a small hemmorage. the dr called last night and said he is not real concerned about the bleed, but the placenta previa can cause miscarrage. any one ever dealt with this?

No, I haven't dealt with it. But it sounds worrisome. Listen to your doctor and try not to worry too much.

Did your doctor recommend bed rest or anything?

I'll keep you and your dd in my prayers.

I had placenta previa with my 2nd child. I think I was around 5 months or maybe 6, when it was discovered. She gave me a pretty good kick and I started to bleed. They put me on bed rest for a week. I did fine for the next few months but had to take it easy. They induced labor 2 weeks early when she gave me another good kick and I started bleeding again. They weren't sure if I would need a cesarian or not and it turns out I was able to have a normal delivery. My daughter was fine... a little small, but fine.

In reading on it, there are varying degrees of placenta previa and with them varying degrees of concern. If the doc isn't overly concerned... I wouldn't put my energy into worrying.

I also had placenta previa at the time of my first u/s (about 13wks). The dr said it's pretty common early on and that most times the placenta moves up as the baby grows and it's not an issue.

he has put her on bedrest only up when bathing( no showering) and to go to the bathroom. pelvic rest, she hs appoinmetns every week and ultrasounds every 2 weeks, this is her 4th baby. he did say that her placenta is covering her cervix which after looking it up i gues sthat would be a total previa, he also mentioned c setion .

Yeah, a total previa is usually c-section. Mine was partial.

Best wishes for a good outcome for your dd.

Sometimes, they do creep up as the pregnancy progresses.

I had placenta previa with my 3rd child. I wasn't on bed rest but wasn't allowed to work & wasn't allowed to ride in the car over 30 minutes - whenever I did I would feel like I was going to into labor. I also had alot of pressure like he was pushing on something. I was very uncomfortable from 3 months to about 8 months. At 8 or 8 1/2 months I just started feeling better & better each day (big, lol, but not so much pressure & spasms) and it ended up moving up enough for a natural delivery. Interestingly enough, he ended up being my easiest delivery.

Unfortunately, I had this with two pregnancies. With dd17, I was on total bedrest from my 5th month. I was in and out of the hospital 3 times. I bled so heavy it was like I was hemorrhaging. I lost my second child 2 years later in my 5th month as I couldn't stay in bed 24/7 with a toddler and no help. Please tell your daughter if the Dr's tell her to stay in bed, to please follow their instructions.

I had this with my 4th. I found out about the same time your dd did. I was on bedrest for almost 2 months. My placenta did move away from the cervix and having a natural delivery wasn't an issue.

i had a partial one with 2nd child. since it wasn't right on my cervix i didn't have much for limitations other than no sex with dh. i did get them to write a note saying i needed to be able to sit when needed at work (i was in retail at the time) but that was it at the time other than they monitored it closely. by delivery time, the placenta had risen to where it was supposed to be.
