Default The health benefits of Stevia

    http://www.naturalnews.com/z023728.html

(NaturalNews) Extracts from the leaf of the Stevia plant have been found to be high in antioxidants that prevent the DNA damage that leads to cancer, according to a new Indian study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. "These results indicate that Stevia rebaudiana may be useful as a potential source of natural antioxidants," said lead author Srijani Ghanta, of the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology in Kolkat

    Thumbs up Cheaper Stevia?

Our family loves Stevia. We started with using it in hot tea and it has progressed from there. It also can be used by Diabetics because it has no effect on blood sugar levels from everything I have read. Only issue we have is trying to find a cheaper source of it. Any ideas?
I have five beautiful children and my wonderful best friend as my husband.

The only thing that I can think of is that if your family purchases any supplements, you could save on those as well and purchase your stevia at a greatly reduced cost as well from www.vitacost.com The link to the stevia they sell is right here
    http://www.vitacost.com/productResul...y=6&Ntt=stevia
And they have a flat fee of only 4.99 for shipping. If you buy any organic foods, they are starting to sell more of them at a reduced cost too. Hope this helps:-)

I have a local shop that I can buy the actual stevia plant from for little to nothing and dry my own. although the natural green powder does have a funny after taste. I prefer the taste of the bleached stevia.

Thanks so much for this, Lynn. I have been trying to find this all over for diabetic DH. I have ordered it from EFoodpantry, but make do sometimes with splenda in between, which I hate to do. Luckily we don't use many sweeteners anyway.......

I have the sweet green leaf. Everyone in the house says it is sweet. To me it is very bitter. Odd as all heck since I'm the only one in the house that doesn't use sugars or artificial sweetner.
Looks like I better try it again for the health benefits!

I recently got some flavored stevia drops from a website. The brand name is SweetLeaf. I put about 9 or 10 drops in a 32 ounce bottle of water - I am TOTALLY off diet Coke now!!!!
