Question Dieters, what do you eat when you are craving sweets?

I am craving some sort of dessert right now, and fruit just isn't cutting it. :gah:

What do you eat when you have a sugar craving?

Aawww having the sugar shakes Chelle?

It depends for me......I will occaissionally have one of the 100 calorie snack packs of some sort of cookie if I can't fight it anymore. That will do it for me with a cup of coffee (for some reason coffee with some little something sweet is more satisfying to me). I try really, really hard to get through it without it b/c I find the more I feed that monster (so to speak) the longer it stays around. But, I'm going through it too right now. I just had my (I cheated and had 3) hershey's kisses for the day, with a cuppa joe. That's it for me....I swear, it is. Seriously. (Hang in there.....)

thanks Lisa. I have cut WAY back on the amount of sugar that I usually eat in the past 5 or 6 days, and fruit has been fine to satisfy me. But tonight, I'm really wishing I could have a cookie or two. Or some of that Lactaid vanilla ice cream in the freezer. I have plenty of calories left in the day, but I'm not sure if I want to use them on that. Plus it's getting late, and I want to cut out the habit of eating past 7:00 if possible. <------me jonesin' for sugar

Chocolate. Which is why I haven't lost any weight in the last year or so.

Before though, I would have a cut up apple or banana with the slightest bit of chocolate syrup drizzled on. Very tiny. That way I was still getting my darn fruit in. lol!

Great question. I hope you get lots of great answers, Michelle. I was just craving something sweet myself. Thankfully, I had already sliced up a canteloupe and had it in a container in the fridge. Guess what I picked to eat? Yep, the canteloupe. It is sweet, but a lot more healthier than the other choice - chocolate.

Having lots of fruits on hand really helps.

I try really hard not to eat after 7 too. The 100 calorie sweet packs hidden in the back of the pantry are great for sweet emergencies...surely you have some...??? If not a cookie or 2 with a shot of milk should tide you over if you'll get out of the house for a while......just anything to interrupt the craving. It's so darned hard, especially when you're going through the withdrawals. Ugh.

I ended up making kettle corn using 94% fat free popcorn. And this reminds me that I need to record that in yesterday's log.

I don't deny myself something I am craving. The key is moderation. If I know every Sunday I can have a treat I am good the rest of the week. Though I do try and choose healthier treats. I love cake when it comes to sweets. The majority of the sugar in a cake is in the frosting. So I will make a devils food cake and top it with cool whip, or mix some peanutbutter into the cool whip. I also like taking an angel food cake mix and mixing in a can of cherry pie filling (no sugar added kind) and then baking it.

    Default Stevia

The Cultivation of Stevia, "Nature's Sweetener"

http://www.durgan.org/ShortURL/?IOMUB The Cultivation of Stevia, "Nature's Sweetener" The stevia plant belongs to the Compositae (sunflower family of plants). Centuries ago, Natives of Paraguay used the leaves of this small, herbaceous, semi-bushy, perennial shrub to sweeten their bitter drinks.

Probably a good taste substitute for sugar. Anything to reduce the consumption of sugar is a plus. There is no good sugar in general. Anything sweet is basically the same as far as the body is concerned.

    Oddly enough...

    1. Peanut butter cups (I'll suck on a frozen mini-cup)
    2. cheese

I have yet to figure out why cheese can satisfy my sugary goodness craving... but, I'll be the first one to admit, I am odd.

I try to keep sugar free jello in the refrigerator for just those kind of emergencies.

I like sherbet. It's a decent size serving for low fat and calories.
